You can't go wrong with these guys
Posted by Hackman on 06/10/2009
I have used these guys for work on the executives cars at my work. We're talking a Porsche GT2 and various new BMW's. The work is always impeccable and prompt.
The repair work on my 64 Chevelle is what put them into the stratosphere for me. I dented the fender, and they fixed and matched the paint so well I can hardly believe my eyes.
These guys can do it all, and Leo is an artist with a hammer and spray gun!!!

I had some difficulty resolving a billing issue, but the shop took care of it. The mechanical service is excellent & well priced.

The best and most honest car repair shop in town

You can't get better service than this. I brought in my Mercedes to have some body work done and a little over a week later it came back pristine and like new!
The service was friendly all around, Rene was great! He even waved my oil change to compensate for a small hiccup that occurred.
110% satisfied!

DONT BOTHER WITH ANYONE ELSE
Posted by AMARTODAY on 06/02/2009
These guys are that good. Plain and simple. It's as if the BMW Gods sent an angel (Rene, the Owner) down from heaven on a holy mechanic mission. It is for this reason that they were given the CitySearch Award for Best Mechanic.
I have been going to these guys for almost 2 years now to have my 98' BMW 740IL serviced and have never been disappointed. I have had quotes from the dealerships that were more than twice what they asked. They even changed my oil for free once! They always show you the parts they replaced and on occasion don't charge for all the small parts or services. They didn't charge me for a new fan belt to replace the cracked one I had been putting off repairing for too long. I hadn't even asked them to repair it, they just did it because it needed to be done. Granted, they know me well and I have brought them a few new clients but still... mechanics are supposed to be evil.
My Dad brings his 2006 Mercedes E350 for non-warranty service and his girlfriend now brings her 97 BMW 325i for her service too.
They have only kept my car overnight one time and that was because I brought it at the end of the day. If you bring your car in before noon they are usually able to have it back by 6 pm or 7 pm the same day. They really only work on German cars but I have noticed them working on a few domestic classics.

Fife star service!!!

Lets keep it simple folks. German Independent. If your car is German, they will be pleased to see you. Rene is great. He's the owner and a really nice guy. He has helped me out a bunch of times for next to nothing on small things.
The fact of the matter is all these guys are pretty much straight forward. They will tell you what is wrong and give you a fair price. When I first got to LA I'd take my car to Santa Monica volkswagen. They overcharge the craps outta me and are then relentless is sending you emails and letters telling you to come back. for a company that makes, repairs and sells VW, they have consistently mess up my car or forgot to put certain things back. After three months I found german Independent and that is where I take my VW now. there work is consistent and the price is fair.
If you want to keep your GERMAN car in good running health take it here. If you would like to have your car messed with by VW of santa monica take it there. They will screw it up enough that you will have to buy another car in a few years.

Great value, Great service

I needed new brakes and rotors for my Range Rover. The dealer (Hornburg) quoted me $1,600!! So I decided to shop around. Not only did German Independent quote me 60% LESS than the dealer, but they had my car ready the same day!!! And they even delivered the car to me!! Granted, one of the partners lives very close to me, but still, that's great customer service!! They are honest, efficient, quick, and friendly!! I would definitely recommend German Independent to anyone! And, to top it all off, I don't even own a German car! But they were happy to order the parts I needed from Land Rover, and they fixed my car immediately! Ask for Matt- he was a great help!

Brought my Audi into German Independent for a service and some body work. What a really nice experience! It was less then I had been quoted some were else and they did a great job. They even stayed late so that I could get my car before the holiday. The shop and the workers had a really great vibe. Thanks guys!

THE BEST!

Brought my car in for mechanical service and some body work. This was the best experience I have ever had getting my car fixed, ever! They were able to do everything at one place. The quote they gave me was right on and no hidden fees which I always have found at the dealerships. I feel like theses guys and girls really care about what they are doing. They have a customer for life! Thanks!

German Independent actually cares about you and your car.
Posted by MBsam on 12/06/2008
German Independent is really a God-send to anyone with a German vehicle in the LA area. Sure we love our German cars for their engineering and design but we all know how expensive (and mysterious) maintenance and repairs can be. GI tells you exactly what is wrong with your car and why. They don't just tell you that "yadayadyada" is broken and you better fix it. They take the time to show you what is wrong with your car, what it all means, and to top it off they give you an unbelievably fair price. The dealer wanted $600 more for the SAME job, using the SAME parts and they did it in 1 1/2 hours! The dealer would have kept it over night.
Bottom line...go here. You will not be disappointed or feel ripped off. How refreshing!

I saw the positive reviews on citysearch and went to them to cosmetically fix my 2006 BMW Convertible before returning my lease and I can only confim the postive feedback. They work fast, give you an exact estimates in writing, are very responsive and their work is good old German quality! They have very long opening hours which is great and my car did look like new when I picked it up. I am very happy to have found them and will return with my next German car. Thanks guys!
