    HERDING CATTLE OUT TO PASTURE

    I ATTENDED A WEDDING ON APRIL 5TH 2008 AT THE HIGHLAND HOUSE. I HAVE KNOWN THE BRIDE FOR MANY, MANY YEARS. SHE IS A VERY STRONG, SMART, INTELLIGENT WOMAN. SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH IN HER LIFE THAT THIS WEDDING WAS VERY EXCITING AND SPECIAL FOR EVERYONE. I WAS THERE FAIRLY EARLY, AND WAS ABLE TO TAKE A LOOK AROUND AT WHAT A BEAUTIFUL FACILITY THET CHOSE. I MADE MY WAY IN TO WHERE THE BRIDE , THE BRIDES MAIDS, AND GUESTS WERE ALL GETTING READY. THERE WAS A LOT OF TENSION BROUGHT ON DUE TO WHOM EVER THE SHORT HAIRED BLONDE WOMAN WAS. BLURTING OUT ORDERS OF WHAT ROOMS THEY CHOULD AND CHOULD NOT BE IN. AS THE NIGHT WENT ON I OBSERVED THIS WOMAN GIVING ORDERS TO THE GUESTS OF BEING CAREFUL NOT TO SPILL, AND AT ONE POINT SHE HAD SOMEONE SHUT THE FRONT DOOR SO THAT THE GUESTS WOULD NOT ENTER THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR AND TO GO AROUND THE SIDE ENTRANCE. SHE MADE IT VERY UNCOMFORTABLE BY LETTING THOSE ENTERING THAT SHE WAS WORRIED ABOUT THE FLOOR GETTING DIRTY. WHEN THE WEDDING WAS OVER AND THE BRIDE AND GROOM LEFT IN THE LIMO. THE LADY WITH THE BROWN HAIR WEARING A BRAID YELLS OUT TO ALL OF THE GUESTS THAT IF THEY WANT ANY FOOD THAT WAS LEFT OVER TO GO AHEAD AND HELP THEMSELVES. AS THE GUESTS ENTERED INTO THE KITCHEN TO DO SO, THE BLONDE YELLS OUT THAT NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN THE KITCHEN. THE BLONDE ALSO LOUDLY SAYS IF YOU WERE UPSTAIRS AT ALL YOU NEED TO GET UP THERE AND GET YOUR THINGS CLEANED UP AND GET OUT, BECAUSE THE BRIDE AND GROOM WILL BE BACK IN 15 MINUTES. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A RECEPTION WHERE THE GUESTS WERE LITERALLY KICKED OUT. I HAVE ALSO NEVER BEEN TO A RECEPTION WHERE THEY MAKE YOUR GUESTS CLEAN UP. NOW I KNOW WHAT CATTLE FEEL LIKE BEING HERDED OUT FOR PASTURE!!THERE WERE PLENTY OF PEOPLE WHO WITNESSED AND WERE SUNJECT TO THE UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR. REMEMBER WORD OF MOUTH IS THE BEST ADVERTISEMENT!!!

    This facility is not prepared to accommodate your Wedding or Reception. The staff is inexperienced and very disorganized. The parking does not allow for large events. There are many facilities that are specific to Weddings and Receptions so my advice is to do your homework. We recently reserved this place for our Wedding and Reception and were very displeased. We were given promises that our specific needs would be met and they were not. They double booked themselves and we we took the brunt of it. Which is why the facility was not ready upon our arrival.Under a crunch for time our wedding party was setting up linens and the center pieces on the tables as well as the floral decorations before the ceremony and a friend dressed the unmade bed in the Suite we paid to spend the night in. Our guests were made to clean up after the reception.Overall the quality of service was poor and unprofessional and our guests actually complained that the staff was rude.There were over 200 guests crammed in the dining room throughout the night because the staff would not allow for them to go into the other parts of the house. The temperature outside had dropped so it was too cold to stay outside. If you are NOT the traditional couple in Utah and are looking for a place that will go outside the box then this place is absolutely not for you. Also we strongly recommend you not pay all monies upfront as it seemed they needed an incentive to do their job. Overall the experience was frustrating, overwhelming and not all all what we though we were getting! We would not recommend this place to anyone we know and love!!!!!!!

    For a wedding held on 4/5/08. I was impressed, a house with plenty of rooms, large yard, pool table and swimming pool. Not a bad. As guests began to arrive and mingle, it became apparent a good majority of the home was intended for looks only. An employee seemingly herded arrivals like cattle to a rear area not suited for a large quantity of people. Outside was chilly and breezy and turned cold. Inside the house was also cold. I overheard an elderly guests inquire if the heat could be turned up only to be ignored by the hostess and again as she passed back through the room. Clearly this person was in charge and frantically ran about while placing food and telling ?the guests? to move chairs, put that pan here, and slide that over there, not once a please or thank you. The employees also were addressed unprofessionally, several were teenagers. She had the nerve to yell at child guests (two are my nephews) to ?get away from the food it?s not time to eat, what a professional. I am told by a bride?s maid her name is ?Teresa.? After the send off Teresa had the nerve to instruct people directly related to the wedding to clean up, ?you don?t want the bride and groom to return to this mess do you?? (What is she being paid for?) I laughed as I left for the evening. Oh let me not forget, the alcoholic beverages were brought in by individuals wanting to consume during the event and served by a hired bar tender. ?Teresa? rudely interrupted the groom while he speaks with me and other friends to make a complaint of a late arriving guest not up to par on the rules about taking the alcohol to the tender. Not a big deal, surely she had to be feeling pretty good by the end of the night not shy at all to make a few trips to the bar and partake of the alcohol brought by the guests. My point has been made. This is nothing more than something you could easily pull off in your own back yard with more comfort.

    I attended a wedding on 4/5/2008 at the highland house. The people who are running the show are very disorganized and extremly rude. They took home left over food from the wedding which did not belong to them, they were drinking the wedding partys alcohol that they wedding pary paid for. At the the end of the reception, they asked guests to clean the place up, which was supposed to be done by the highland house staff. That night they made the bride scrub the carpet to get a drip of chocolate of off the carpet that had been spilled and in the morning they made her clean the bathrooms. ON HER WEDDING. The Bride and Groom were promised multiple things and they lied about what the bride and groom were actually getting. This place is extremly over priced for what you actually get. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE FOR YOUR WEDDING. Inless you want to pay 3000.00 to do everything yourself and scrub carpets on your wedding night. Thanks.
