Tattered on Colfax
Posted by MountainGoblin on 11/03/2008
I liked this store better when it was in Cherry Creek. It's new location near East High on Colfax seems like it's always picked clean. They never have what I'm looking for. Also, avoid it during lunch time M-F unless you want to deal with tons of kids from East. The other location was just cozier.

makes you realize what amazon. has taken away from us

Tattered Cover is by far the best bookstore I have ever been to. How lucky are we to have a HUGE independent bookstore in our city? So lucky. This isn't some little hole-in-the-wall (although those are fun too). Every book you could want is here, and if it's not, the super-friendly staff will do their best to help you get your hands on it. I've never encountered an employee here who seemed in the least bit unhappy. Really, it makes me want to quit my job and come work here!

The read deal

Sweet bookstore in a cool new location. Just off colfax and josephine, it's super easy to get to and so much fun to spend the day.
Great atmosphere, good selection of books and a helpful staff.
My favorite thing about this place is the guests speakers, or book signings, that they host. I saw Al Gore there a couple of years ago at the cherry creek location, as well as some of my favorite authors.

You must check out the Tattered Cover before it closes! It is several stories of books and fun! They have an amazing selection of everything you could possibly want to read about! While you are there, go to the restaurant on the top floor! It is awesome with an amazing view.

An experience

This bookstore is a Denver icon for a reason! Four floors of a book lover's dream and if they don't have it--they'll find it. Lots of cozy nooks to curl up with a book, a great coffee bar space to mingle and a convenient parking garage make this a great place. The staff are always helpful and knowledgeable and it's a great place to pick up gifts for all the book lovers in your life. Take your kids there while they are young and they'll develop a genuine love of reading, for sure. Don't forget to take in the Four Story restaurant on the top floor for am awesome culinary experience!

What a great, cool book store. It isn't a boring place like most book stores. This one actually has a personality. The staff was very helpful and the selection is unmatched. I also got to meet one of my favorite authors for a book signing. Anybody that likes books should stop by to check it out. It is a little crowded though.

Awesome Book-traveler's Delight
Posted by Christine Z. on 08/23/2005
I visited this bookstore when traveling to Denver on business. I had heard of this independent for years, but I was still impressed by the bookstore. It's in a cozy house, located in LoDo, and has an unbelievable selection of books and gifts. I especially enjoyed the reading room, with all the authors' photos around the walls and only wished I had been there when someone was appearing. I highly recommend this to locals and travelers alike. I know that I will be back.

Great Selection for the Bookhunter
Posted by Erik M. on 08/18/2005
Tattered Cover Book Store is a Denver original located in the heart of Cherry Creek. The selection of books can be overwhelming, but there is an insightful staff waiting to help you find just what you are looking for. I love to venture through bookstores just browsing and enjoying the years of history and fiction written on paper. Tattered cover gives that journey a comfortable, modern feel and they feature a coffee shop and restaurant for those who would like to stay awhile. I have never had the chance to go when they are featuring authors, but from what i have read, they have a decent lineup. Two more locations in the Denver area are available for those who aren't local to this area.

A Book Lover's Paradise

If your idea of heaven is pursuing through endless stacks of books, then Tattered Cover is the perfect place for you. The original Cherry Creek location is my favorite. It has one of the best selections of any Denver bookstore. If you can't find the book you want, the very knowledgeable staff will help you order it, or even suggest something you may like better. The store features cozy armchairs perfect for reading and relaxing while your family members shop. If you need a pick-me-up, visit the coffee shop on the main floor featuring locally roasted and brewed coffee - not another green mermaid. Or, if refined is more your style, check out the Fourth Story, a cozy restaurant with a full menu, champagne jazz brunches and martini Mondays. After a day full of browsing, stop by one of the evening book chats with the authors. The store always has a great schedule of literary events. If you don't want to venture to the Cherry Creek North, the Tattered Cover has expanded to lower downtown (16th and Wynkoop) and to Highlands Ranch (Broadway and Highlands Ranch Parkway) while still maintaing its independent charm and pride.

Best Bookseller Ever

I love books and this place is perfection. If your idea of a perfect outing is browsing for books in a great quiet shop this is the place for you. It isn't shiny but it doesn't smell musty either. Simply a huge selection with a staff that KNOW books. If you can't find a book to read here then you probably aren't literate, the trick is getting out of the store without spending a fortune.
