    More misses than hits

The only thing Home Depot has going for it are low prices. Usually. The current trend in American business seems to be just to get the price down on everything, at the cost of quality, selection and customer service. I prefer shopping at my little local hardware store, but sometimes they don't have what I need, and when I have to go to Home Depot, and I am lucky enough to FIND an employee who seems to give a hoot, s/he usually knows less about what tools or supplies I need than I do, and I am an amateur do-it-yourself guy. But if you go to Home Depot, definitely talk to the older guys, they will at least tell you when they don't know something rather than pretend.

    Better locations around town

Yes...HD has everything you need to improve that new fixer-upper or even that old one. But with all the new locations with humongous parking lots, try to avoid this one at all costs. I've had to visit this location several times over the last few years, and have never had a positive experience with any of the staff. They seem to avoid me like the plague...even when it's pretty obvious I'll be spending several hundreds of dollars in one shot. I will now drive much farther (to the location in Monrovia...or even Loews in Burbank) just to avoid this HD shop.

    Home "where are the..." Depot

I like Home Depot. It's a one-stop shop for all kinds of fixins. They've got a lot of everything. So much of everything, that I can never find anything. I think I spend more time in Home Depot trying to find someone to ask where something is, than I do actually shopping and purchasing the merchandise. Its a crazy maze in there. The lines can also be long on weekends. They do have everything. But, sometimes, thats the problem.

As a new homeowner, I spend most of my spare time--and all of my money--in Home Depot. All the aging scenesters/homeowders can also be spotted at this particular location, which is also open 24 hours.
