    Very Good

You can get lost and die in there.

There is a bartender, Mel, with a joy of life and rosy cheeks that allow her to reap giant tips from drunken pensioners. They have 151 and Cointreau. In the summer, the neighborhood smells like hot garbage. It's obviously a front for something. p. s. Keep your eye out for the skinny trucker "Harvey the Hillbilly B*stard" guy slumped over at the end of the bar...he's been trying to put the make on Mel and she may have been stringing him along a little bit. Don't say anything sideways to Mel or else he get his hackles up.

    Good

    Not Very Good

While the atmosphere and service were very very good, the food itself was very bad. My boyfriend and I went there on a Saturday morning just to check it out. He ordered the pancake breakfast which was huge! But he said it was pretty good. I ordered a simple two egg breakfast with sausage. I ordered the eggs scrambled soft with cheese and got egss that were so hard, if I dropped some on the floor you would have heard it. And I didn't get the cheese on top. The sausage was so of the worst I have ever tasted in my life! They really need to drop their supplier! The sausage wasn't cooked thouroughly. It was literally the worst breakfast I ever tried to eat. Sure the fact that it's a train is interesting, but if you want good food, you will have to go elsewhere.

Kitch is still alive at Andy's Diner. Great service from friendly wait/bar staff - all in classic rail road cars! My grandparents would take me here for sunday dinner 25 years ago and my recent meal was just as i remembered it. The food is good old fashioned diner food. Not fancy, not low fat, just good - the best hash browns i've had in years and you have to try the Prime Steak. I loved it and would totally go back!

A Tradition in South Industrial Seattle

    Posted by bigjerfour on 07/26/2004

This was THE PLACE in the Seattle Southend Industrial area for many decades-----Andy was the consumate host who always made both the regular and newcomer feel welcome and his co-workers were our friends-----the prime steak was to "die for". Old business friends met in the lounge after work for good conversation (most "big deals" taking place during happy hour), honest libations & wonderfully creative snacks-----in those days, definitely not a yuppie hangout. If the same now as before the TJ era, it will be a worthwhile experience
