EXCEPTIONAL ITALIAN FINE & CASUAL DINING
Posted by JOHNNY69 on 08/02/2008
THIS RESTAURANT IS NOT WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT, BEING LOCATED ONE DOOR WEST OF McDonald's aka/"MICKEY D'S". YOU ARE REALLY TALKING ABOUT BOTH ENDS OF THE SPECTRUM.
THE BLUEMOND INN WAS ACTUALLY A LONG TIME DREAM FULFILLED BY OWNER JIMMY BALISTRERI. HE HAS BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK A FEW TIMES, STARTING MAKING PIZZA, AND EVENTUALLY STARTING & OWNING BALISTRERI'S PIZZA IN WAUWATOSA. (68th & Wells) HE HAD LONG BEEN AN ADMIRER OF THE LOCATION AND RESTAURANT. SO AFTER SPENDING HIS TIME "IN THE TRENCHES" HE BOUGHT, REMODELED & OPENED IT AS BALISTRERI'S BLUEMOUND INN. AGAIN PUSHING THE ENVELOPE OF "BOTH ENDS OF THE SPECTRUM". FROM PIZZA IN TOSA TO FINE DINING ON BLUEMOUND ROAD.
I HAVE EATEN, AND ADDED POUNDS TO MY WAISTLINE, AT THE BLUEMOUND INN. THE FOOD IS TRULY UNIQUE AND EXCEPTIONAL. YOU REALLY CAN'T GO WRONG WITH ANY OF THE MENU SELECTIONS. I ESPECIALLY LIKE THAT THEY SERVE UNTIL 1:00 AM. BEING A NIGHT OWL THIS FITS THE BILL. DON'T EXPECT THE BEST COOKING TO STOP BECAUSE OF THE LATE NIGHT SERVING HOURS. JIMMY IS VERY FUSSY ABOUT FOOD QUALITY & CONSISTANCY.
I COULD RECOMMEND AN ENTREE OR APPETIZER, BUT WHY? YOUR TASTE BUDS ARE UNIQUE AND YOURS. AS AN INDIVIDUAL, AND WE ALL ARE DIFFERENT, SO VARY OUR TASTES. I ONLY SAY THAT IF THE UNRECOGNIZED CRITIC RECOMMENDS IT, IT MUST BE AT LEAST WORTH A TRY. WHAT DO THE ITALIAN COOKING SHOW LADIES SAY? ABUNDAZA!
BY THE WAY THE DRESS CODE I THINK IS ANYTHING BUT YOUR "BIRTHDAY SUIT". THE ATMOSPHERE IS GREAT WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION PAID TO DETAIL. NOT UPSCALE, BUT NOT CASUAL. A TIE AROUND YOUR NECK, OR A TIGHT BELT RESTRICTS ENJOYABLE DINING.
I DON'T RATE INFERIOR RESTAURANT'S, LIFE'S TOO SHORT TO WASTE TIME AT THE COMPUTER KEYBOARD REPORTING BAD. IF YOU SEE A WRITEUP FROM "JOHHNY69" YOU'LL KNOW IT'S ABOUT A GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE I WANT TO SHARE WITH OTHERS.

great service and food - but very smoky
Posted by dougandsue on 10/27/2005
My wife and I enjoyed our meals. We both had steaks. First class. Service was also very good. But the smoking from the bar destroyed our enjoyment. Our clothes were sent to the cleaners. Too bad. This could be a 4 star restaurant.

Best Pizza in Town
Posted by bambi borkowski on 11/17/2004
My husband and I have been going to Balisteri's Bluemound Inn for a long time now, and there isn't a pizza place in town that can compare to the service and quality of the food served there. There
pizza is by far the very best around and we have compared it with others and Blaisteri's has them all beat!
