Banana Pancakes!
Posted by Jason666 on 01/31/2008
What an amazing treasure On Sunset at the Luxe hotel is. For breakfast I had the best pancakes I have ever eaten. For lunch I had a Lobster Club, which again was better than even Wolfgang Pucks. But dinner was the best.
I wasn't in the mood for anything heavy, so I opted for the bar menu, which is also available in the dining room. I ate Sliders and Cheese Fries with truffle oil. KOBE BEEF SLIDERS!!!!
When I go back for a regular dinner I will write more. But I must say those little burgers will always be in the back of my mind as the best burger in LA.

Great find!! New Favorite Restaurant
Posted by mywolfgang on 01/29/2008
Had been to On Sunset for breakfast and it was always terrific. When I heard that they were participating in the
Dine L.A. Restaurant promotion and were offering a 3 course menu (with good choices) for $34.00 , decided it was time to try it for dinner. Dinner was fantastic!! I had a roast duck breast as my entree which was scrumptious. Service was attentive and warm. The wine list is outstanding. Not surprised that the wine list is so good, as I was pleasantly surprised to see David (who was the long-time Maitre'd at The Brentwood). David is now managing the restaurant and has brought along his friendly demeanor and knowledge of wine. The chef clearly knows what he is doing. Can't wait to go back.!!!!

Food is better at the hotel next door.
Posted by twilliamson36 on 01/24/2008
I ate at On Sunset last week (as I was staying at the Luxe for business) and all I can say is the food and ambiance was much better at the restaurant next door on top of the Hotel Angeleno. Does that sound mean??

Great spot

what can i say, great venue, great food, great wine, friendly service
High end food in a casual and elegant setting without the attitude and rush of a fine dining restaurant. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and always keen of having you taste his latest find.
Keep it up, love the Tuesday night free wine tasting.

What a find!!!
Posted by michmuch on 01/04/2008
I haven't been back since the renovation and it's great, the design is fantastic, they have a new chef (from Michael's restaurant..one of my favorite restaurant) and upscale winelist. I came with my wife on a week day evening, and we had a great experience, we sat down in the outdoor patio, ordered a great bottle of burgundy and ask chef Olivier to create a menu for us, Gaspacho, prosciutto wrapped scallops with pine nuts sage butter, Roasted Daurade with confit sherry tomatoes and basil oil, Filet mignon with morrels jus and foie gras.Reminded me of Europe .Best kept secret in brentwood. Go before it gets too busy

beautiful wedding spot
Posted by juju13es on 04/15/2007
I actually went to this hotel this past weekend for a wedding, and the decor was simplistic yet stunning. The wedding took place outside in the outdoors, which had minimal decoration, but the area was extremely serene with stone fountains and an Asiatic vibe. The indoor reception was even more beautiful, decorated with simple greens and whites; It seemed very upscale without looking too pretentious.

Really Great Experience!!!
Posted by sammyjo98 on 01/29/2007
I visited the Luxe on a total whim, and my stay ended up being fantastic. The location was great! It was so nice to find a peaceful place to stay in Los Angeles...for once. The accomodations and staff are definately one my top five now!! My room was VERY comfortable and I would definately recommend this facility to anyone who wanted to really enjoy a stay in L.A. with out having to deal with any trouble!

Absolute Nightmare!
Posted by travelpro11 on 01/25/2007
I was at the hotel a few weeks ago and this is what I found. First off I was greeted by a front desk staff of smiles, the only redeeming quality about this place, I was then put into a room with moldy grout and a door that the keys never opened the door. On one occasion I returned to my room to find a insect larger than the apples that are so perfectly placed on their front reception area crawling on the floor in my room. I would only recomend the Luxe hotel if you wanted to go camping with a friendly group of people working on the grounds.
