    Bad Service, Unclean Room, Overcharged.

    Posted by greg0819 on 07/17/2008

My wife and I took a trip to Atlanta to shop at IKEA, and stayed one night at the Marriott in Duluth because of an online picture of their pool. The pool was the only highlight of the trip. Our balcony was completely covered in bird poop. It looked like it had been there for weeks. Disgusting. In the gym, I injured my finger because their weight rack (older than dirt) did not support the dumbells properly. My wife watched a movie "Fool's Gold" on the TV, and it cut out right at the climax. When she called the hotel operator to question it, the woman acted like she could care less and simply stated we would not be charged for the movie. Four days after we checked out, a charge appeared on our account. (Lucky we are one of the few people to review our bank statements.) Bad service, unclean rooms, and overcharged. Go somewhere else. We will next time.

    Mother's Day Brunch 2008

    Posted by fair1998 on 05/27/2008

I was pleased with the ambiance and the service since the Mother's Day brunch was setup in a large ballroom. However, the lack of food choices compared to Ray's on the River in Cobb County or others was not what I expected. There was an omlete station, however, no scrambled eggs readily available on the buffet. Nor was there any fresh shrimp on the bar or oysters. I am not sure if there was a budget problem, or perhaps with the current gas prices and debilitating economy the buffet was simple but not overdone. I have eaten at other Marriott's in the past, and enjoyed their restaurants and even brunches and this was ok. Not awesome. My husband didn't even think it was up to the standards of what we've experienced with brunch at $28.00 pp. For the price, more items should have been included. Father's Day is coming and I think we'll return to Ray's on the River or the Waverly Hotel (both in Cobb County). We live in Gwinnett and don't know of any other better places for bruch. Open to ideas.
