Great Place to Grab a Beer and Some Grub....FOR CHEAP!!!
Posted by brw5754 on 02/02/2009
Circa's is most definitely a great bar with great prices. If you're not into the pretentious club scene and just want to grab an ice cold beer and a burger, this is the place for you. The bartender is awesome, even if you haven't been there before, as soon as you walk in, you are exactly like a regular. Beer prices are awesome: $3.50 for a 1/2 pitcher of Old Style. They also have a wide selection of beers, including Schlitz, which was just brought back not too long ago ($1.50 for a longneck). Also great if you have a large gap of time in between classes at WSU to grab some lunch. So once again, if you're into the clubbing scene, this probably isn't a place for you. But, if you're into a place where you can relax, talk to patrons like you've known them forever, and not spend a fortune, then by all means stop in.

Depends What You Are Looking For

Totally agree with the last two sentences by Tom H. Down-home friendly. Totally casual, no picking up at this bar! Not a posh, trendy environment. It's more "comfortable". This is a place where you can walk in by yourself, lugging your schoolbooks, or with a friend, or with your whole class. It's a "come as you are" type of place. I enjoy it immensely and think the atmosphere is awesome. I have only been there 3 times but feel totally comfortable and at-ease when I'm there, and I keep hearing of many Wayne State students that gather periodically during the school year in there. PLUS - THEIR PIZZA IS AWESOME!!!!

Urban flavor campus hangout

Play pool, wonder at their display of jackalopes, play the juke-box, eat and drink pitchers with friends, and forget your woes. Carpe diem! You have arrived! Well, not exactly. Knda ghettttto, but that's a good thing. Its friendly, like Cheers, but there is no Frazier or Lilith to remind you that many people are slain with neuroses. Hahaa! Chill out, this is Wayne State University, the neighborhood where Casey Kasem grew up and where LaidBack is normal.

Local Neighborhood bar
Posted by Tom H. on 09/23/2006
The "circa" as we call it, is a down home old-school neighborhood bar. The drink prices aren't that great, the TVs are from the 1970s, and the food is modest. However, the bar is regularly full of good people who live nearby and just want to down a pitcher and watch the Tigers. If you're looking for a sports bar or a party place, this isn't your bar. If you live nearby and want to make some new friends this is.
