North Star Behavioral Health...Providing help and hope to young Alaskans since 1984.
North Star's facilities are comfortable, family-like surroundings designed to respond to the needs of active children and teens. When a young person needs more intensive care, North Star's locations in SouthCentral Alaska provide a full range of services. Based on the seriousness of the situation, some children come to the hospital for intensive short-term treatment to begin the healing process then return home, while others need the stability of longer-term residential treatment program to learn the skills needed for emotional and social stability and security.

Amenities
North Star hospital has 37 double rooms (accommodating up to 74 children and teens) with 19 rooms for teens and 18 for preteens and children. We have classrooms, specialized activity and therapy areas, a gym with a climbing wall, cafeteria, indoor and outdoor activity and recreation areas, outdoor challenge course, and a solarium for family and group gatherings. Children share rooms in areas specially designated for their age, gender and therapy goals. Our Adolescent wing has both male and female units. Although there are group rooms on both adolescent units, we offer some co-ed groups led by a leading Psychiatrist, based on individual treatment needs.
