Wonderful Fun, Wonderful Food !

We took a group of 9 adults and 3 children for the hibachi grilling. It was the first time there for all in our group. We were celebrating a graduation. Everyone in our group had a blast. Our waiter pampered us and was great fun. We never had to wait for a thing. He was right there all the time. If someone needed a refill he was there before we could ask. The hibachi chef was great fun and very entertaining. We had small children ages 1 - 3 yrs and even they were fascinated. The food was delicious and very plentiful. We found the restaurant very kid friendly. The staff was excellent with the little ones. I highly recommend it. Everyone in our group said they would go again. Thanks Japanica for a very special time celebrating our son's graduation!

YUK!! Hidden Fees

When we received the bill, we were surprised to see an 18% gratuity fee added. We brought it to their attention and a BIG scene was made - trying to make us look cheap. They showed us the last page in the multiple page menu and very small at the bottom stated that an 18% gratuity will be included and added. They should just change their prices and put this in to reflect the true price. OVERPRICED and VERY OK food for the OK service. Others in area much better food, service and NO HIDDEN FEES! Try Izumi's, Benihanas or many others before this place.

Good food, good fun

This is a fun place to eat that has good food too. The Hibachi chefs are entertaining and the amount of food is worth the money. There was a lot of variety on the menu so our whole group could enjoy something. And the fried rice - WOW - we loved it. I recommend you put the scrumpscious ginger sauce on everything - it's quite tasty. We thought the service was good and the food even better. If you're looking for fun and something good to eat at the same time, Japanica is for you.

Horrible experience

Service was horrible. Very unenthusiastic staff. Unorganized. Took too long for drinks at table. (at least 15 min each time) The cooks were very boring. Not worth the money. Overall had a horrible experience. Everyone at our table was complaining and very unhappy. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Great sushi selection!

Japanica is one of my favorite places to go! It has a lot of dining space, with plenty of hibachi tables, booths, and a bar to accomodate all group sizes. The service is always great, the sushi always fresh, and I love the big tree in the middle of the restaurant! They have a lot of great 'specialty' rolls that are meant to be shared, and are SO delicious.

Great Food for glutenfree diet.

My wife and I are on a gluten free diet. We could eat everything except the hibatchi. The service was great, the waiter , Eric, provided alot of personal attention. The portions were very large and fresh. It is the beast sushi bar in the area so far. This is a great restraunt for romantic nights, familie, and take out.

Japanica - New owner, new review

You may remember my recent review on Japanica. I gave Japanica rave reviews, my first perfect score. Unfortuneately I have to revise that score now that Japanica is under new ownership. I took my parent out to dinner expecting to be able to treat them to a good inexpensive dinner. I noticed the new menus right away and immediately was shocked to find that the prices had doubled! The $7.95 dinner I had just ordered two weeks ago was now $14.95! We did not have the same server as our last visit, the server we did have was fine, not horrible, but certainly not as good as our last server. With the new prices Japanica will now be a once or twice a year restaurant instead of a monthly date stop.

I have not been throughly impressed with a restaurant for a long time, well actually never. There is always something that could have been done better. That is until I ate at Japanica. I have absolutely no complaints about Japanica, their service was impeccable, the food was great, and the prices were decent. The moment I took my last bite and laid my fork down the waiter or busperson was immediately there to wisk away my plate. Our drinks were never empty and the waiter was polite and kind. I enjoyed my Tempura Chicken, the crab appetizer, and the Sushi. The restaurant was clean, even the bathroom was in perfect order. If you are in the Milwaukee area and are looking for an inexpensive sit down dinner you've got to get to Japanica. My husband and I with drinks, appetizer, sushi, and main dishes were under $50.

This is my favorite Sushi place! It could be because this is the first place I ever went so base every experience off Japanica. They have great lunch specials. 3 rolls for $9 or 2 rolls for $6 off of a selected menu. My family goes there oftenand it has the best fried rice for the kids!
