$1,265 for a hair cut?
Posted by sanfranpal on 07/01/2008
$1,265 for a hair cut? Susan cut my dog leaving open sores, gave her a visibly uneven cut showing blade tracks, and only trimmed two nails. It could have been coincidence but my dog ended up getting an infection, needing overnight hospitalization...resulting in $1,200...on top of the $65 for the cut...

In a word, HORRIBLE
Posted by juanfuerte on 11/09/2007
I?ve been shopping around to find just the right place to get my puppy Lhasa groomed. I?ve tried a couple of places and thought I?d give this place a shot. The groomer sounded like an expert on the phone and I was excited about her potenital; but, the entire experience was horrible. I never met the groomer and the place seems a little backward. My dog looks like the clippers attacked him and he has been seriously jumpy for the last two days. When I spoke with the groomer on the phone apon picking him up (yes she wasn?t there when I piked him up either) she started to blame me for the bad hair cut (i.e. I wasn?t taking care of him). He has matts that weren?t there when I took him in and the other groomers I?ve used haven?t had any of these issues (Dunkin Dogs and San Francisco Dog Groomer were my previos groomers). Use anyone else but this shop if you care about you dog.

The best safe haven for your pet in the Bay Area! Ten Stars!
Posted by gcaswell on 11/01/2007
Susan and the entire crew and Reigning Dogs and Cats are a blessing to have in San Francisco. I find them easy to accommodate the needs of my pets and myself. I have two chow chows and Susan does such a great job on their coats that they get constant compliments. The rates are more than reasonable. Both of my dogs (who by their nature are not the most sociable) love going there. When I pull up outside they both get excited. That says a lot. I also get the impression that Susan really cares about both of my pets. She pays attention to their needs and on several occasions has given me much needed advice. When my youngest was a puppy, Susan made sure to socialize her with the other animals and the employees, and I really appreciate her for it.
I don't understand how there could possibly be a negative review for this business. I wish I could give them ten stars.

My Chow-mix, Scarlet, always looks great after a trip to Reigning Dogs & Cats!
Posted by mwpearce on 06/05/2007
Scarlett is a hurrican Karina dog and although she has settled into life in San Francisco very well, she does sometimes get nervous. The staff at Reigning Dogs and Cats, particularly Susan, the owner, know just how to make her feel comfortable. They are always friendly, and make the extra effort to make Scarlett feel at home. Best of all, Scarlett who has a thick coat and extra hair in unexpected places always looks beautiful afterward. Along with being friendly, courteous and professional, Susan is a terrific groomer. I delight in how great Scarlett looks after her grooming.
Reighing Dogs and Cats isn't located on one of my usual routes, but It's always been easy to find parking. I always bring Scarlett here to be groomed and shoudl I ever need a kennel, I will definitely bring her here for that as well.

Best Schnauzer cut in town
Posted by Ernest F. on 12/10/2006
I have a giant schnauzer and tried several groomers before sticking with Susan. Some of those came highly recommended and I never went back - he always came back looking like a cocker spaniel. I showed Susan a picture of my dog's dad and said, "like this." When I picked him up he did and I never looked any further. Her facility is clean. Her staff friendly and helpful and most importantly my dog is happy to be there. I have never had the need to board him there, but if I had to, I would feel very comfortable. My dog, though extremely friendly, is high maintenance and Susan keeps letting him come back and I appreciate this. If you have a giant schnauzer, look no further. She's the best in town.

Best I've found
Posted by daddye on 11/30/2006
I have a Giant Schnauzer and I have tried four different groomers and settled on Susan, as my dog is high maintainence. Though extremely friendly he is a handful at grooming time. I don't understand the negative reviews myself. The crate he stays in, until I can pick him up, is always clean. The general facility is clean and I have never smelled anything unpleasant. True the shop is not in Pacific Heights but I don't take my dog there for the neighborhood. I take him because Susan is the best. My dog loves her and for me that is just as important as Susan's skills.

Ignore the bad review - Very caring and friendly service
Posted by 1zoomzoom1 on 09/10/2006
Reigning Dogs and Cats is the only kennel service that I use. I have a nervous Chihuahua that does not feel comfortable in new places. When I take him in for a stay here he actually wags his tail when he sees the gentleman that takes care of the animals. The owner Susan is very polite and always makes room for us when I forget to call or have to rush out of town for an emergency. The facilities are very clean, well kept, and the staff is wonderful and courteous.

BEST Place to take your cat
Posted by ebiuni on 09/04/2006
I also do not understand the negative reviews! I have taken my cat to her shop for a bath and he got nothing but the best attention. I have used her cat sitting service as well. She is very knowlegable about animal breeds, animal health, training and the best organic foods.
Maybe her fault is that she happens to love animals first then people next.
These other customers probally care more about their ego first then their animal's wellbeing!

i don't understand the negative reviews
Posted by kittyjl on 09/01/2006
i have to believe that these were a couple of unique circumstances. i brought my dog to be groomed at RC&D and i felt very comfortable with the service. the staff seems to really care, specifically the owner, susan. she if obviously an animal lover and the welfare of the animals in her care come first. because of my comfort with the grooming i decided to board my dog for a long weekend over the summer. when i picked her up she seemed happy (i've had very different experiences with other kennels.) i feel confident recommending RC&D to my friends - we are all dog people.
