    Nice staff, great location

    We stayed at the Portland Square recently and found it to be a very good choice. The central location was perfect as a starting point around the city. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff was very accomodating. We'd definitely go back

    In regards to their expensiveness or inexpensiveness, I just called them and the lady said they've been "upgraded" recently and that they "haven't really had any low rates for a while". They used to have nice low rates a few years ago, though. $100 easy. But not anymore. Having said all that... Good location, good service, well kept.

    How's this hotel "inexpensive"? I just called to make a reservation, and it's $279+tax per night EARLY NOVEMBER! If that's "inexpensive", then I'm a giraffe!

    Okay, its cheap and its located right in the heart of times square... Thats about all you're getting! Warning, the rooms are VERY small! And there is only one bathroom on each floor. Thats 1 toilet and 1 shower...This could make a few of people uncomfortable, I was one of those people! You really get what you pay for though.. If you're vacationing in the city, you wont be spending much time in the room anyway.

    The perfect location in a no frills, small, but spotlessly clean little hotel. 1/2 block from Times Square and 1/2 block from the subway. Wouldnt even consider any other hotel!!!

    For an amazing price you get a clean, comfortable room in the heart of NYC. I couldn't have done any better. I chose a shared bath and the only draw back was my laziness to actually go out of my room. i never had a problem with compition. I was a single in a double and yes it was small but very comfortable. The bed was nice and firm/comfortable. I stayed from a Saturday night to Friday morning in November. I can do nothing but rave about the place. I felt very very safe in the hotel and in the surrounding area of the hotel. WHAT A FIND!!!!

    PORTLAND SQUARE IS A JEWEL OF A HOTEL. THE LOCATION IS WONDERFUL AS IS THE STAFF. SMALL ROOMS BUT VERY CLEAN. WON'T STAY ANY WHERE ELSE IN NYC.

    The Portland Square Hotel's location is fantastic! I never have to go far to see my favorite Broadway shows, not to mention the half-price tickets! The value is unbelievable. This hotel is well maintained, clean and the service is great! I wouldnt take my family anywhere else.
