Editorial Review for Georgia Aquarium – by Citysearch Editor

In Short
Shaped like an ark and situated on Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium is a state-of-the-art facility that contains 8 million gallons of water and houses 100,000-plus animals. Home Depot cofounder Bernie Marcus donate $200 million to create the world's largest aquarium and the impressive exhibit has become a centerpiece for Downtown. The innovative aquarium features 500 species from around the world and is mapped out into five Disney-like exhibit sections that are a little cheesy for adults but perfectly entertaining for youngsters. The Ocean Voyager exhibit boasts an all-encompassing, tunneled-viewing section that shows whale sharks, stingrays and hammerheads from diver's viewpoint. At the Cold Water Quest, scope exotic Arctic creatures like a giant Pacific octopus, Japanese spider crabs, California sea lions and Beluga whales. Do yourself a favor and avoid holiday visits, as families crowd this tourist haven to a claustrophobic point.
