Rude staff
Posted by CSMobileUser on 10/08/2009
I was appaulled by how rude the staff was my girlfriend went outside for a smoke and they would not let her back in. The door woman said she was too drunk. I myself was sober and can tell if she is drunk or not,and trust me she wasnt. I just felt it was wrong to leave her on the street and not contact me or any of her other friends upstairs after paying an entry fee. Neither me or any of my friends will return to this venue no matter who is playing. Bad business.

Good Spot

I liked it as a change. The place was crowded but the music was good and the beer was cold. Saw a few people I knew there checking out the place. Check it out.

Good after concert music, Not completely hard rock
Posted by jazziegirl on 02/17/2008
Went here for a friend's birthday on a Saturday night. Had really good fun. I was afraid I was going to have fun because I am not that into hard rock. But the good drinks started flowing and my friends and I all started using those poles they have.

Good place to see bands
Posted by famousblueraincoat on 11/05/2007
Seems like lately the Roxy is coming back up. I like that they are booking a good range of talent, from up and comers to successful bands. It's a good place to see music. I like that there are seating options, and the On the Rox bar above it is cool too. This is one of the best venues for live music on the Strip. I've heard they have a drink minimum, but I've never actually seen that enforced.

the ultimate in intimacy

Being from LA a lot of people will tell you that the strip is meant for 1980's hair band throw backs and masters of the transient brigade. But tucked in between an unmitigated s**t sandwich of leathered-out ratty haired places you can find that diamond in the rough... that truffle buried deep in the soil... The Roxy Theatre stands strong and proud. Dark in the day - illuminated by neon in the night. You can never guess what crowd will be there because they don't stick to booking the same genre every - single - night. The sound, the stage, the crowd and the drinks fit for THE BEST PLACE to see a live band perform. The diamond shape staged envelopes you (the audience) and includes you as part of the show and the energy permeates your skin and goes straight for your soul. As you can tell I am a huge fan of The Roxy... but you really can't beat a place without a bad siteline in the room and drinks that are cheaper than most clubs or bars in Hollywood that are definitely not watered down... Don't wait to check out a show here because it is the absolute in LA!

Sounds so good! And light show was fantastic!
Posted by howzz on 09/10/2007
the sound system at this classic LA venue is hands down best around. i saw INVITRO last night at the roxy and the band was a little heavier than i would normally listen to but i could here every note, every instrument. the bass was super rocking. i don't know who does the lights but i was floored by the light show. there were gigantic balloons, and strobes and confetti. it was like an out of body experience. INVITRO at the roxy, 2 thumbs up!

By far the best venue to see live music at. you can be right up front in the mix or lounging in the booths. Sound is always good, everyone is so nice. Have had many great times at the ROXY!
