Ristorante - Piccola
Posted by CSMobileUser on 03/09/2009
Ristorante Bartolotta is a great place if you want gourmet Italian not so much a spaghetti and meatballs place but a cedar planked salmon on a bed of spinach, an olive tapinade and wonderful little roasted potatoes. Unfortunate that Citysearch wants to classify this as a pizzeria.. however, Pizzeria Piccola (also run by the Bartolatta's) serves wonderful wood fired oven pizzas just two doors down... yum!

Wonderful atmosphere, great service, wonderful Italian food - Comfortable yet upscale

This is one of my favorite restaurants particularly on the west side - where options for great dining thin out. I love this historic space - it feels urban somehow but is cozy and warm. In the summer it's fun to sit right on the street and dine at a linen covered table. I've never had a meal I didn't love from grilled lamb to black truffle infused pasta dishes. And don't DON'T miss the tiramisu. Our last visit was for a friend's birthday (they asked when I made the reservation if it was a special occasion). No one mentioned it at the restaurant when we arrived, but the bartender picked up on it and said, "Oh, happy birthday - your drink is my treat'. And our server brought a complementary dessert to my friend - she just figured it out. Great service and unexpected. A real gem! Try it.

I disagree, Kellerfan. . .this is the BEST AROUND

I have never had any issues with what I consider the best restaurant in the city. The authentic pastas and entrees are only part of the charm and ambiance. The service staff is remarkable - especially Michael and Chas. A world class wine list and Italianissimo cuisine. There is only street parking, which means paln on looking for spaces early on. There is a lively, bustling atmosphere; My only regret is I never call early enough for reservations and have to take later times. Oh well. Try whatever the special is, too, I have yet to not be blown away.

not worth it

What is coming out of the kitchen is good. Great cuts of meat. Pasta a step above almost all other Italian restaurants. But the price is two steps above. The service is spotty also. Sometimes I have received courteous, well informed service. But several times I have had snots for servers, The kitchen and the service staff just don't match.

The Best Dining Experience in Milwaukee
Posted by Peter116 on 07/29/2002
Bartolotta's has great, great food. And some other places do too. They have a terrific - kinda south manhatten atmosphere. Others may have that too. What makes us keep going back to this restaurant is the service! These are absolutely the best waiters/waitresses/hosts we've come across and they are consistent. They are friendly and informative without being invasive and don't show up needlessly like 95% of waitrons at other places do. They know the ingredients to the dishes and are helpful in selection. They know wines. We eat out all our meals and have found Bartolotta's to be the best dining experience in Milwaukee!
