General Info
We have two beautifully restored and remodeled buildings in the charming Belmont neighborhood of Charlottesville, VA. They are clean, comfortable, and relaxed. We host a wide range of people: everyone from elderly couples to business professionals, concert goers to wedding participants, young backpackers to bicycle tourists. We've hosted guests from dozens of countries and from every continent. We have an outdoor table to take in the sun on a nice day, a flourishing flower and herb garden during the spring and summer, and a small backyard that accommodates our composting system and shade gardens. Our roof is equipped with solar panels to heat our water, as we do all we can to remain loving to our environment. We also offer bike-rentals! Charlottesville has scenic bike trails, protected lanes, lots of racks, and many local attractions that have limited parking, so biking is the way to go!Local attractions:Alexander House is a five minute walk from several restaurants and cafes, as well as a small grocery, laundromat and a doughnut shop. Another five to 10 minutes on foot gets you to C'ville's famous outdoor pedestrian downtown mall, home to various restaurants of all cuisines, multitudes of shops from clothing to kitch. Youll also find plenty of bars and live music venues seven nights a week, including the beautifully-restored Jefferson Theater, which hosts a wide variety of acts large and small. From there the University of Virginia is a short, free trolley ride away (or a 10-minute drive from Alexander House). The historic Monticello estate of Thomas Jefferson is only a five-minute drive, with tours available daily (or hike up to Monticello for a taste of the Virginia outdoors)! Further west, about 20 miles, lies the Shenandoah National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway. Here, you can enjoy hundreds of hiking trails and gorgeous day hikes--or take a winding scenic drive--while looking over the majestic Blue Ridge. While in Charlottesville, you may also want to visit Court Square, Live Arts Theater, Carter Mountain Orchard, Michie Tavern, Ash Lawn Highland, the Barboursville ruins, the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Museum, the University of Virginia Art Museum, and the City Market. Many of these attractions are within walking distance or easily reached by Charlottesville's free public trolley. For reservations, please call 434-327-6447 or email booking@alexanderhouse.usVisa and Mastercard accepted, cash discount available.
