Half off Sushi on Mondays!
Posted by kmc5k on 06/30/2009
Passing through Atlanta, GA on a Monday (June 8, 2009) - we ate here late night after a Brave's game. The restaurant was conviently open until 11:00, and had half off sushi as it was Monday! Dim room with bright neon lights created a modern, hip atmosphere.
The sushi was definitely worth it, it was not too extravagant but matched the price of around ~$12-15 for 6-8 rolls (not including the half off). Although I am usually one to actually stay away from California Rolls because I like the more raw sushi, the most memorable was a California Roll dipped in Tempura and Fried. The Crunchy Crunchy Roll (my boyfriend enjoys crunchier sushi) was not very crunchy at all and was the bigger food disappointment.
The service was slower paced, as the night was dying down and the waitresses were getting restless to leave. It could have definitely been better but not bad enough to complain about. As many sushi restaurants have, there was a glass table where people could watch the chefs make the sushi.
Quirks: The bathroom was down a long hallway with a TV projected on the mirror - the sounds of the TV definitely startled me as I thought someone was following me into the bathroom! We also saw the waitresses take shots at around 10:30 PM.

Highly recommended for great food - not service though

To the previous poster, is it necessary to curse and take personal what someone else posted? Get over yourself and let otheres voice their opinion and experience without being so ghosh darn sensitive and ugly (unless you are the owenr and/or work there - but still...)!
I went there for lunch and though the service wasn't too great, the food was delicious. I don't like sushi and found many other great things to choose from. I left there telling all of my friends about the place. I highly recommend for great food, not service.

Sushi lunch specials - what a joke
Posted by Eggy54 on 07/08/2008
I just had lunch at AB, and ordered the sushi 'special' for $8.25 which consisted of 9 microscopic maki rolls. No soup, no salad, just 9 small pinky finger size rolls which normally would have cost at the most $6 at any other mediocre sushi establishment. I am not one to complain, but their sushi lunch prices are incredibly overpriced and you are much better off anywhere else; Whole Foods sushi is better quality and less pricey.

if you specifically need pan-asian cuisine to satisfy everyone in your group (i.e., you need a place that has chinese, thai, korean, etc.), then feel free to go here. there is certainly a wide variety of food. however, if you're looking for real good food at a decent price and don't mind going to a single cuisine restaurant, then DON'T go here! the food is decent but overpriced. that's the price you pay for pan-whatever cuisine--they do it all but not well. instead, if you want korean bbq, go to hae woon dae or if you want thai food, go to surin (or pick your other fav spots). the "korean bbq beef" for $17 was not kalbi style as you would expect but bulgogi. come on, i could go to buford highway and get that AND get spicy tofu soup for $9 and have it taste much better.
i also had the spicy tuna roll, too much sweet sauce on top and too much pasty rice. didn't have any real sushi but if it was of similar caliber then i can't imagine it's the "best sushi in buckhead."
i also had the spicy seafood which was decent. too many onions and bell peppers but pretty good taste. not worth $19 though.
on a plus side, it is a pretty cool looking hangout/ambience and i will admit with others that the fire cracker salmon roll was one thing there that was worth it. very tasty and probably the best thing i ate there that day.

Great food, yucky service!
Posted by dariasofi on 05/21/2008
I found this venue through restaurant dot com, where I purchased a $25 gift card to Aqua Bistro for only $5, with a minimum purchase of $35. That was a good enough incentive to check it out. When we got there, we found the valet was not there, but there was free 2-hour parking in the condo parking deck around the corner.
The restaurant itself was nice and clean, with modern Ikea-inspired designs. There is small seating area outside as well. We ordered 3 different sushi rolls and an appetizer. As other reviews noted, the food WAS indeed delicious. The pieces of fish were large and lean. For dessert, we had coconut fried ice cream, which was also fantastic.
The only downside was the service. There was only one server running around between the indoor and outdoor areas. The hostess/manager was also waiting on tables. Both seemed to be too rushed/indifferent to notice empty glasses at our table. Ironically, there were more people working at the bar, where only TWO patrons were seated. A whopping 18% gratuity was included in the bill while the service was well below average. After all, where is the incentive to earn it?
I recommend this place for the food and the drink specials only.

Best Sushi in Buckhead
Posted by VaHiLocal on 04/07/2008
This place is my favorite! They have great specials during the week. Comfortable atmosphere at a fair price (contrary to most Buckhead sushi places). The service could use a bit of improvement, but not horrible. Definitely recommend it!

The best 'Fried California Roll' that you will ever have! The atmosphere is wonderful and service prompt and friendly. Their menu is extensive and the food is great. We had the spicy basil chicken and shrimp and it was excellent! This is my new sushi spot.

Best sushi spot in Buckhead!

This is a great spot for good sushi, good drinks, and good atmosphere. We venture to Aqua Bistro almost every week. We love that we never have to wait long for a table. The wait staff is always very friendly, and there are good deals during the week. This is definitely a gem in buckhead these days!

SUSHI IS GOOD; PRICES ARE GREAT!!
Posted by luvnitelife on 01/09/2008
my bff & i were craving sushi on a Monday night..so we decided to check out Aqua because we had seen it on the web before..i would say it was an overall good experience..the Sushi was better than average and our server was very nice & friendly..((the inetrior decor is awesome)) after 2 rolls of great sushi, great tempura and noodles, my friend and i were stuffed..oh and we had a bottle of pinot gris too..we assumed the tab would be a little high; to our surprise it was incredibly cheap - thats always a plus-...as we walked out we noticed on every night there is a 1/2 off special, which makes it even better; the ambience, cool, and the music hip and relaxed!!
