    Very Good

Great food, etc...I'll be going back...

    Posted by bahbshlee on 07/17/2008

My husband and I decided to try out the new Bolingbrook LaHacienda even though there were a few negative reviews. We were wondering if the negative reviewers were at the right mexican restaurant. We found the food fantastic, waiter was quick and very polite, food was served at a reasonable time after giving order, which was 5 minutes after we arrived and were seated. The restaurant was about 2/3 full and everyone seemed very happy and in good spirits. The restaurant was very clean, waiters were very neatly dressed (not dirty shirts), and overall everything was great. We'll be going back again soon. TRY IT OUT...YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED UNLESS YOU ARE VERY PICKEY AND NOT PATIENT WITH THE HARD WORKERS TRYING TO GIVE THE BEST SERVICE THEY CAN.

    Exceptional

Try for yourself...you won't be disappointed

I read the reviews posted above but decided to give La Hacienda a chance. For a restaurant to just open you have to expect some minor kinks that hopefully will work themselves out within a few weeks. We were not disappointed at all! The service was quick and the staff was very friendly. Our food was great and I would definately come back. Try the chicken flautas with the special sauce, it was excellent! There are also many coupons for the restaurant in the local clipper magazine that are a good deal. A nice couple next to us gave us one of their extras since we didn't have one. There is also plenty of outdoor space to sit now that it is nice outside.

    How long can cooking take?

    Posted by FilmMaker7 on 05/14/2008

I have the same sentiment as the other reviewers - really excited when it opened. I went for lunch with a friend during work hours. We sat down at about noon, ordered within five minutes... and our food hit the table at ten minutes to one. It takes 50 minutes to make enhiladas and a chicken salad?? There were a max of twenty other people dining there at the time! The food was very tasty, although they made my friend's salad wrong and left out half the ingredients specified on the menu. The manager comped the salad, but we both agreed it would be a long, long time before we would try them again. The facility is really nice and the outdoor seating is quite spacious, but it was obvious that they hired an awful lot of people who don't know much about working at a restaurant.

    Don't Bother!

This restaurant opened a few weeks ago and I have been eager to try it. I read the two previous reviews and decided to see for myself. Well, I am telling you not to bother seeing for yourself! The first person in a party of four adults and two children arrived at 4:50PM and was told there was a 30 minute wait. Fair enough. After 30 minutes, we inquired about how much time was remaining until we would be seated and were told " Sorry, we are backed up and it will be 30 more minutes." By this time, all of the other establishments in "Restaurant Row" would be at least 30 minutes, so we stayed. We should have gone. After 30 more minutes, we asked the manager what was taking so long and were told that "We are backed up and besides, you need a high chair and we only have 10 of them." There was only 1 high chair in use at the time. Believe me, in trips to the bathroom and in general walking around to keep the kids from going stir crazy, we knew that for a fact. We were finally seated with our high chair at 6:10PM. The food was O.K. (I got a combination platter.) The prices were average. The salsa was really good, but good salsa won't bring me back to this one.

Wish I could comment on the food, but it never came

    Posted by stinky_wizzleteats1 on 05/07/2008

First of all, let me say that I really wanted it to work. In a sea of corporate chain restaurants, it was great to see a Joe's Crab Shack bite the dust and have a locally owned restaurant come in. I wanted to root for the little(r) guy. I read the first review this afternoon and thought, "one person, bad experience, couldn't be that bad", right? Unfortunately, she was right. I never even got to the point of getting food. This was the first time I've ever walked out of a restaurant. Ordered drinks, ordered food as soon as drinks came. I figured burritos and enchiladas shouldn't be that big of a deal on a Wed night. It was moderately crowded, but there were open tables. Had to ask for chips and salsa. 45 minutes after waiting for the food, called the waitress over. "Where's our food". Reply: "Oh, the kitchen is really backed up. I'll check". 5 minutes later, she came back: "It's coming right out". Another 10 minutes later, and nothing. At this point the waitress is avoiding our table, to the point of covering her face with menus as she's walking by. Table next to us (who came after us) is already on their appetizer, another table (also came after us) is done with their meal. Plenty of other people with a 1000 mile stare, wondering where the heck their food is. At this point, I go to the front, ask for the manager. Tell him "We've been waiting over an hour for our food. I want to pay for my drinks and leave". He comps us our drinks. Says they're backed up in the kitchen. We leave. I call bullsh*t. I realize the place is new, but the ownership has several restaurants. There's no excuse for slow, bad service. If this was a Wednesday, what's a Friday night like? I really wanted this to be a great place. Too bad I won't be returning.

    1st time possible last time

I went on 05/02/08 as my husband took me out for our anniversary since I just love Mexican food and this place just opened. Whether that was the problem or not I don't know but my first impression is a no way. My server was terrible, too long to come to the table let alone bring our appetizers and meal etc.. I seen other tables having the same problem and it was not even that busy yet. You could see the other tables shaking their heads or having to flag him down to get to go boxes or new ones waving to let them know they were ready to order and us to just tell him we wanted our check. I ordered a taco salad to be safe since I did not know the quality or spiciness of the food and who could mess up a taco salad...wrong. they could. After what seemed like forever, he brought out our food, my husband Steak fajita and my burrito..yep no taco salad. then he says, oh,you don't want it after I told him I ordered the salad..he then said he would not charge me for it if I ate it...I said no, taco salad... my salad came and with the little amount of meat, all I tasted was lettuce and maybe an olive here and there. I did not like the smoothness of the guacamole, I felt like I was eating babyfood and it was kind of bland actually. Finally we have our check and the salad was not on the bill but the burrito was and the server said that he just rang up what was on the meal ticket but don’t worry since it was $1 cheaper then the salad which I really don’t know if it was or not. I never seen a manager walking around to let him know that we had issues and we spent $50.00 on a meal that was just so not worth it. Will I go back, probably not, my little mom and pop taco place I go to really does taste much better for about $30.00 less and to pay the extra money to sit in a bigger more crowded and noisier restaurant, I don’t think so. I was highly disappointed and as of today, my coworkers who knew I was going on Friday, all have asked me how it was and I told them. TO each his own though right, I did give them that, I did say it was new and the server was not that great but honestly, some things don't change.
