Never Again for North Beach Pizza Grant Street, Poor Customer Service and Poor Delivery
Posted by noaspenwin on 09/25/2008
I ordered a pizza online at 10:30AM for the Grant Street location and specified we are a school and need specific delivery time as we only have limited time to eat. I wanted a 11:45 or 12pm delivery. After submitting order, they call and tell me they can deliver at 12:45. I agreed as we have two lunch slots early and later but I explained that it really needed to be there before or at 12:45 as we don't have a large window of opportunity and they said that wouldn't be a problem. PIZZA DID NOT ARRIVE until 12:11PM. Almost a full half hour late. That means we had 4 minutes to eat. I called several times while waiting, and once I asked them to call the driver, they put me on hold then disconnected me. I spoke with the manager and he offered no solution and could care less. I told him I should not have to pay for this type of service. He basically just said, we'll cancel the order. Did not offer a discount until I got very angry. If I didn't have 8 people relying on me to eat lunch I would of cancelled. The discount was only 15%. Terrible customer service. Will never use again. They simply could care less about providing good, reliable service. They could of had a lot of business from us and I told them that, and the manager didn't care about that either. I know there is always a lil give and take on delivery times but the way this was handled was ridiculous. Don't commit to a service you can't provide and invest in some customer service training. Oh, and for the earlier lunch we called Escape from New York pizza on Polk. Excellent service, quick delivery and right on time, better pizza too.

The worst service I have ever had
Posted by Bearwithbeerisnofear on 08/20/2008
I went to this place about 3 weeks ago and ordered "carbnara spaghetti".
But they served white source spaghetti. Well, before I ordered this food, I asked a manager if they could cook (it is traditional source in italy but not in the U.S) .
First, it did not look right. but I talked to two people about the food so I assumes that they would not misorder. So I tasted it and I confirmed that it was wite source spaghetti.
I went to the cashier to talk to either the manager or chefs. The manager was there so I told him that this is not carbonara spaghetti because it did not contain eggs and parmeasan cheese.
He said this is how we make carbonara source and we have been cooking for 25 years. (Which was a definitely white source)
So I explained to him that Carbonara has to have eggs at least.
Well, he kept saying that white source and carbonara were same, and he told me to leave. (Of course, he charged the food)
If you like The WORST service and Foods which IGNORANT chefs cook, You are very welcome to GO because they will treat you like NOTHING.
*******It has a good rate because many customers eat there after they get drunk(many bars around)********

Terrible Delivery Service
Posted by Disgruntled415 on 05/28/2008
A North Beach resident, NBP was a place I visited and ordered from regularly-- until my experience tonight.
After more than an hour's wait for my food, I called the restaurant to ask after it and was told that I should have expected to wait that long. The woman was rude and dismissive, and I will not be patronizing this establishment again.
There are plenty of other good Italian places around where good customers will be treated as such, and that's where I will be spending my money.

Unreliable delivery
Posted by janQ12 on 04/22/2008
My food arrived late, cold, and the phone operators were less than helpful. I normally don't write reviews, but this is the second time in two months that North Beach has done this to me, so I am more than a little annoyed.

What happened?
Posted by SFoldTimer on 04/21/2008
This place used to be pretty good. But the last 3 or 4 times I've tried it, the food has been weak. And last week, when I ordered it, delivery took over 1:30. On a Wednesday!!! (They said it would only take 30-45 minutes).

Terrible Pizza. Terrible delivery.
Posted by PizzaFan1234 on 04/21/2008
Pizza arrives late, cold, and the manager flat out lied to me on the phone. How is it that so many have had the same experience and this place is still rated at 4 stars. If I could give negative stars, I would.

Delivery took 2 hours. Pizza arrived cold. Phone operators were awful.
Order elsewhere.
I wish I had read the other reviews.

DO NOT ORDER HERE
Posted by PizzaLuver14 on 04/08/2008
Their manager and phone operators are incompetent. Pizza arrived 1 hour late (i.e. it took 2 hours from order). It was cold. And the phone operator/manager said it had left a while ago. Liars.
I wish I had read this before ordering, because it sounds like more than a few people have had the same problem.

TERRIBLE DELIVERY
Posted by JenWho on 04/08/2008
I never write reviews. But my experience from the other day was so bad (and I've been thinking about it since), that it will feel good to get this off my chest.
North Beach Pizza promised me a pizza within one hour and fifteen minutes. After several calls (in which the phone operator lied and put me on hold 6 times), my pizza arrived more than 2 hours late.
And they still wanted to charge me for it.
Order from North Beach only if you want to waste money, time, and taste buds.
Edit: What is up with the CitySearch rating system? The average review is not 4.5 stars. It's a little over 3. So either CitySearch does not have a clue how to average their "star system", or the stars reflect one crazy editor's opinion.
