I have used Sentinel for over 2 years. I have decided to go with another company because of a few reasons. First, my system had a faulty motion detector and they continued to tell me I didn’t use the right kind of batteries in the system (I replaced the batteries with the same type they used when they installed it) and that I need Lithium Ion batteries. I purchased the best kind I could get and it still didn’t help. Then after about 6 false alarms, when the system wasn’t even armed, I called again and they finally sent someone out to fix the motion detector. Later, my system was tripped and I didn’t receive a call from their monitoring company for almost 20 minutes. This happened two more times (thankfully nothing serious happened but was a little taken back that it took them that long to call me). Recently, I have decided to go with a new company and when I called to cancel my service I was put to someone’s voicemail, left a message and didn’t hear back for 2 days. I called them again and spoke with a lady and she said she needed to get my contract and she would call me back the next day (why does it take that long to get a contract). After I didn’t hear anything I called again and when I got in touch with her she said she was just looking at my contract and was about to call me. When I signed up for Sentinel I had moved from a home with ADT and had to pay a cancelation fee with ADT because I still had a year on my contract. I chose to go with Sentinel because they said they never raise prices and there was no long term contract. However, when I spoke with the lady about going with a new company I had 9 months left on my contract? When I told her what I was originally told she said they never offered that and that I must have been misinformed. I asked her to send me a copy of my contract and she said she would email it to me later. If I signed something without reading it and just taking the salesman/installers word for it that is on me, but I am completely unsatisfied with the customer service I have received from Sentinel. They are a local company and that was appealing but after the experience I have had with them I have decided to go with a larger company (even though I had to sign a contract) that has a better reputation and a wireless system for the same price I was paying with Sentinel. Take it for what it’s worth and I know every company has a unsatisfied client but after reading the reviews (all 9 of them-not very many- and 2 or 3 of them being negative I wish I would have saved myself the headache).
I just came back from a meeting with Sentinel regarding some technical problems I had. I was frustrated, but after speaking with its staff - particularly Guy - I found them to be responsive and helpful. Ultimately they worked with me to find a security solution that's really impressive. I'm pleased to give them a 4 star rating, and appreciate their professionalism.
