Four things to remember before entering this dealership:
1) These are professional car salesmen -- they want as much of your money as they can get, so do your homework 1st -- know the price of the car BEFORE you get there.
2) NEVER give them your car keys to get an estimate on Trade-In. Once they have your keys, you can't easily leave and YOU MUST LEAVE to get the best deal. NEVER give them your car keys... NEVER.
3) Get the dealer Invoice as a STARTING price. Negotiate down from there. Once you think you have their best price you have to LEAVE. Tell them the price you want, that you are already qualified to buy a car, and that you will buy a car from them IF you get your price. You must LEAVE the dealership to get the best price.
4) NEVER buy an extended warranty at the Dealer. The car is already covered and you can buy one several years down the road. Extended warranties are for IDIOTS and represent pure profit to the DEALSHIP. Read the fine print -- all maintenance records must be kept, usually a deductible applies. In short, Warranties are a waste of money.
They say anything to get you to buy something you cannot afford. We went in and asked to see used cars around $5000. We found a used G6 for around our requested price range and the sales person said he would figure the numbers and for us to come back in a few days when we had the time. We came back and the sales person said that was not the right car for us. Said this other barely used G6 for $22,000 (way above the Kelley Blue Book value) would be much better for blah, blah, blah reasons. He was really pushing it and would not let us get the cheaper G6 we wanted. Ugh!
THEY WILL LURE YOU N WITH OFFERS THEY HAVE INTENTION OF EVER STANDING BEHIND. I ASKED FOR A QUOTE ON A NEW CAR THROUGH KIA'S WEBSITE. INSTEAD OF GIVING A QUOTE, THEY SIMPLY STATED THEY WOULD BEAT ANY OTHER OFFER BY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OR GIVE ME MY FIRST PAYMENT. wELL, THEY WOULDN'T BEAT AM ACCROSS TOWN DEALER'S OFFER, THEN AFTER DAYS FINALLY SAID MY SITUATION DIDN;T APPY. hAE TO SAY IT, BUT THEY SIMPLY LIED.

We bought a NEW 2006 Kia Optima LX (V-6) @ Ray Skillman. At 5033 miles it started to have belts & pulleys prob. At 6199 miles it left me stranded 250 miles from home with a surge & stall problem on a Sat afternoon when all is closed. Several repairs and an arbitration hearing later it is declared a Lemon. It now has 16,789 miles on it. The car will be required to carry a branded title. At the arbitration, the Kia rep gave copies of repair orders provided by Ray Skillman. Information was discovered by the owners on one of the reapir orders dated 12/5/07, that gave very strong evidence(hand written notes) the car had been work on without the customer knowing and the customer invoice dated 12/5/07 specifically stated ""advised not to attempt any repairs"". This repair would have made yet another documented repair, giving the owners a stronger case in arbitration. The owners also attempted to get warranty work done after 12/5/07 and were never contacted back by Ray Skillman even after a certifed letter was sent requesting repairs. At the arbitration and after a test drive by the Kia Rep, he maintained there was nothing wrong with the car even though a Tech Expert verified there were problems 1/14/08.When the Repair Order/Customer Invoice information was provided to the arbitrator, a completly different decision was rendered. It went from interum repair order to replacement of the car. Now we get a USED car in place of the NEW car we bought. The owners have requested Kia and Ray Skillman allow the owners a new 2007 or New 2008 as a customer satisfaction request regarding the issue of what ""appears"" to be working on the car to avoid the lemon law?? The owners have not requested monetary compensation/restitution. What we ask will have very little effect on Kia or Ray Skillman. We lost our entire holiday travel plans and have not seen our only child in Iowa since Oct. 2007. We are still waiting on the replacement car at this time. It could be mid May 2008 before we get a car.
This is a friendly place to look around at cars.
