The injectionists at Ortho Indy like to use just a local, but my first visit and the visits by other patients say pretty much the same thing - you will experience some pain and trauma with just a local. On my second visit, I insisted on using IV sedation and everthing went perfect - absolutely no pain and absolutely no trauma. The nurse told me that I would still feel the pain with IV sedation, but in my case I remember nothing after the IV was used by the nurse. I never experienced any pain and I do not remember any pain or trauma. For whatever reason, they try very hard not to use IV sedation, but for my money, I would insist on it every time. While the first visit was pretty bad, my second visit was absolutely great. Dr. Miller did a great job the second time around and I am currently without any pain in my back. The key to the second visit was using IV sedation.

My mom had surgery on her knee a little while back, she developed ecoli in that knee, more than likely someone not WASHING THEIR HANDS before surgery. She was on antibiotic, (which she had to have intervenously). She now is back in the hospital having that same knee joint removed (this is because a second infection got into her knee, looking as big as a grapefruit. She should have never had to have the second surgery and now she possibly will need another on that same knee along with joint replacement on the other side.
