Best Breakfast in Indianapolis! Hands down! I must say that I am not a mustard fan. I was really suspicious of an omelet with ham, Swiss, grainy mustard, and onion. However, I figure that with so many people recommending this place, and it's always packed, that they have to, absolutely have to, know what they are doing... and they soooo do! The mustard added the right enhancement to the flavor. It was brilliant! I also had a fruit and yogurt cup (although it was huge I cannot imagine how big the bowl size is.) At $5, I thought it was a bargain. I also noticed since I have worked hospitality that they are very conscious of allergens. The fruit that they served is separated by allergen. The pineapple, grapes, oranges, and apples are together b/c not too many people are allergic to those fruits. However the cut strawberries, melons, and blueberries all were in separate containers so to not spoil the fruit for those who want to avoid a certain one. That seems little, but for a restaurant to take the time to make little differences is definitely what separates a five star experience from a four. I love the down home, straightforward simpleness of this location. The cook is busy preparing everything right at the diner counter. Nothing is hidden. You see the food prepared just as you would at home in an immaculately clean environment. It was one gentleman's duty just to keep the kitchen and dining area spotless and set, plus he was very good at keeping out of the way as well. Our server was super knowledgeable, although if you just sat at the counter, you would see everything prepared right in front of you as well. After an average morning you'd have a pretty good idea of everything that is freshly prepared on the menu. Overall, I was very pleased by the experience. I will be back on more lazy mornings off
Perfect date night dinner stop. Quite for a family diner. The Chef really seems to know what he was doing. We went for our Anniversary dinner, I had the lamb that was listed as part of their Valentine Couples special and my husband had the 10 oz Rib-eye both seasoned with a fresh mix of herbs that we both found hard to discern the exact mix, which is rare for my husband at any restaurant, but the flavor was perfection and the presentation was more than pleasingly appetizing. The meal came with two small bowls of Lobster Bisque that was wonderful with just a hint of pepper, followed by a colorful garden salad with strips of zucchini shavings and widely mixed leaf greens. The main course had perfectly grilled asparagus and what looked and tasted like Golden Yukon potatoes and finished with a decadent mix of dark chocolate and cherries in a heart shaped slice of Torte. All served with a tart dry Merlot. I would say this is a wonderful stop for any night out. We may even call on them to cater for our next big bash.
