First of all, I think this place has great curb appeal. I'd been driving by for about two years before I actually went, and everytime I passed it, I always said I wanted to go there sometime. I finally went about a month ago, and really enjoyed it. We went for dinner and the weather was really great, so we decided to sit on the patio. That was really our only mistake the whole night. The patio is on the College side, and right at a stoplight, so the whole time we just heard the roar of cars, and as it was a saturday night, tons of motorcycles cruising and revving when they took off. Needless to say, it was very hard for my boyfriend and I to talk, and we heard a few other people complaining about the noise. The inside of the restaurant, however, is beautiful, and very crisp and clean looking but also homey. The food was all awesome. I ordered the blue cheese encrusted filet medallions w/mashed potatoes, and the filets were some of the best steak I've ever had. My boyfriend got the Cajun Shrimp Linguine, which was also delicious, but he had a bit of food envy and ended up eating some of mine. Even the bread and butter they serve with the meal was great. All in all, the food is great and I'm sure it's overall great, if you just sit inside.
We've eaten here twice in 2 weeks and although everything looks and smells fabulous, I can't get past the beef brisket sandwich. It is wonderful and a great value - you get a huge sandwich, chips and a side (the potato salad is good but the beans are better!) for $6. They have 3 sauces, sweet, hot and mix - I'm into the sweet but my husband swears by the hot. The macaroni and cheese is great, too, but the fried biscuits and apple butter are spectacular. Seriously, the sides are so good that I could bring my vegetarian friends and they would be satisfied. Squealers is casual and quick, with a bluesy vibe due to the music and decor. I've never had room to actually eat dessert there but last time we got a chocolate lava cake to go. I'm ordering dessert first next time! They rotate desserts so don't hate me if the lava isn't there when you go but the cobblers are pretty tempting, too. Squealers is southeast of 86th & Zionsville.
It is a great place to eat! My husband and I went in here for a late lunch/early dinner and had the best service and best meal we've had in a while. Our server was amazing! I believe her name was, Elizabeth. She made sure that our cups were never even close to empty and was prompt on bringing us our food and anything we needed. I don't even think we had to ask for anything, she brought it before we had to ask! Definitely a great server!!! Also, we both ordered ribs and they were cooked to perfection! And we must have made it in at the perfect timing because it wasn't too crazy and hectic in there because our service was extremely fast! Our salads were brought to us within minutes after ordering them and as soon as we were done eating our salads, our entrees were ready for us! Big Thumbs Up to this restaurant! We will definitely be back soon, and might even bring the kids this time!
