Awesome place!
So not very often do I give a place 5 stars, so hopefully that tells you something about my experience with JT's.... read more very unreliable in their hours, and many don't even carry a good selection of shoe polish.
Yellowpages.com to the rescue. JT's was the second place that came up, and not knowing any better, I called the first place. No answer. Called JT's, and he answered very quickly. He was very helpful over the phone, and most importantly, friendly. JT knows customer service, and you can tell.
I got directions to the store, and made my way there. Once there, I popped in the door, and JT greeted me, introduced himself, and asked me what I needed. Told him I needed polish for my poor shoes. He took one look at them and said "that's Sandlewood". He took the Sandalwood polish container off the shelf, and without me even having to ask, grabbed a rag, dabbed a bit, and tried a spot on my shoe. Dead on color match! In an instant they looked 100 times better. JT also instructed me on how best to apply the polish.
JT told me that he used to have a shoe shine stand, so I bet that's where he got the eagle eye for color!
I paid for the polish (under $4! Not like back home, over $5, with no help) and wished JT a good day. I do believe he doesn't take credit cards, just so you don't show up without cash, but I understand the motives for that. Credit cards can be a hassle, and they take their cut out of his earnings, which is just passed on to customers at stores that do accept them. He is probably able to keep his prices lower without them.
I hope JT gets a chance to read this, as do others who are looking for someplace they can trust. While I didn't have JT do any other work on my shoes, he is the type of business man that this country has lost in droves over the decades, and I have no doubt that he will do his absolute best on any job he gets. His customer service alone should keep him in business for a long, long, time. But if you ever want to move JT, I think Seattle could use a shoe person of your caliber.
Please reward JT with your business. He's worth the drive even if you are hours away. Who hasn't been disappointed in a business, and spent valuable time and money to find that out? Go to JT with confidence that won't happen. I would gladly drive hours, KNOWING that I was going to be a satisfied customer. Confidence in businesses is sorely lacking today, but JT has mine.
Thanks again JT, it was a pleasure. I wish you many long years of prosperity.
