My eating experiences are rarely noteworthy enough to share online, let alone evangelize over...but I absolutely have to recommend this place. So good, somebody ought to notify Gordon Ramsey. I found Shea's by accident. I'd known about their catering service for years, but I didn't set foot in the actual restaurant until I attended an event there. The staff handled our party (of close to 40 people, including five rambunctious preschoolers) with attentive efficiency and grace. And the food! The portions were almost daunting, but so flavorful, fresh, and well prepared we were tempted to eat ourselves sick. We only took home leftovers because of the cake. Oh, the cake... I see why Shea's is so famous for their wedding catering. If I had to do my wedding over again, I'd pick Shea's in a cold minute. Oh well, I should have a vow renewal coming up... >.> Once I knew about them, I had to try them for lunch. The pricing is quite fair for the quality and amount you receive--a little more than standard sandwich shops, but oh so worth it. Thus far I've tried a rotisserie panini, the etoufee, and their eggs Benedict. All delicious. I hope to try a new plate every future visit, or possibly invite a few friends and share dishes. So many amazing choices. The live Jazz music on Saturdays is a terrific extra touch, and part of the reason this is my new favorite lunch spot in Huntsville!
Maybe four stars is a tad generous but I love having sushi so close and I really want this restaurant to succeed. The atmosphere is very nice, I think fairly upscale for strip mall on Winchester. It would standalone nice in any HSV locale. I usually get miso soup - and I think it is the best I have ever had. Nice and mellow. I always get the same rolls- crunchy shrimp, salmon skin and yellow tail. Very good. Nice and clean tasting- fresh. Wish it were served a tad cooler... but very good. Also had a small house salad and it was very good as well. Fresh, generous dressing. Good flavors- not too salty or sharp. The service has been a bit slow and inattentive. I notice they are advertising for a manager and hostess so that should solve the problem once they are adequately staffed. The wait staff has been nice, just mostly seem young and inexperienced. This week we had to wait- our waitress didn't seem to pick up on the clue we wanted to order even though we had our menus open and a finger pointing to the item.. just refilled glasses and scooted. Although we did not complain, we were comped the salads. I usually like to chat, etc when I dine out so service being a little slow doesn't bother me much. And once again, the atmosphere is nice and not aggravatingly loud if you are trying to carry on a conversation. Have also got carry out.
Service was great! Seated quickly; waitress was jovial & efficient. Decor was a tad '80's, but very clean. Similar to City Diner, but cleaner w/ better staff & food. The hubs had Lobster Sensation @ $17.95. It came with a generous house salad & soup. He tried the seafood gumbo, which he said was pretty good. His entree was very good & generous. Good taste, bad appearance. The gumbo looked like a cup of mud and the Lobster would have benefited from a sprinkling of fresh parsley and shaved parm. I ordered Stuffed Cabbage. It's served w/ spaghetti, but I subbed the Greek lemon potato. It came w/house salad, soup & veg. $12.95. My was great; Definitely homemade. and tender! Homemade ranch & blue cheese were bland. We jazzed them up w/ some of the feta spread meant for the bread. Will return. UPDATE: Return visit, ordered different entrees. Food just excellent, staff fabulous. Owner stopped by to chat; great guy. We have found our go to restaurant! Something 4 everyone!
