Overall
MY PUPPY FELL OFF THE EXAMININ...

MY PUPPY FELL OFF THE EXAMINING TABLE HERE! I brought Simba, my 6 weeks old Yorkshire Terrier, to Beach City Animal Hospital for his first vaccination shot 2 weeks ago. I started coming here because of a recommendation from my co-worker that Dr. Tyler is a great vet. My previous experiences with Dr. Tyler were good in treating my other 2 dogs. But on this most recent visit, it was Dr. Robert Beshai who attended to us and made the experience horrible when I brought my 2 dogs plus my new puppy for their check-ups. There were 4 assistants and nurses in the front desk area when I arrived that day. Each of them noticed the small dogs that I had with me and turned their attention to my 3 dogs. They were commenting on how tiny they were and wanted to hold them. When my name was called, I brought my 3 dogs into the exam room and gently placed them on the exam table while Dr. Robert Beshai stood there watching me enter the room. After I placed the 3 dogs on the table, Simba crawled around and slipped off the table! As I watched in horror, he landed on his head! He let out a painful yelp and his 4 legs shook violently like a person who is being electrocuted. Dr. Robert Beshai picked him up to examine him and came back with the prognosis that he has brain trauma. I asked if the dog will be alright and he said he doesn’t know. He suggested that I take my dog that fell off HIS table to the 24 hour animal hospital for overnight observation and said that I would have to pay for it. I asked if my dog will survive and he said it didn’t look good. Putting my little 6 weeks old Simba to sleep was another option and he said I would have to pay for that too. I was already in shock and upset that my puppy got injured within the walls of his medical facility. But for the doctor to tell me that I had to pay for injuries sustained on his premises was beyond belief! He made a deal with me that if I sign a paper saying that he was not responsible for this incident, then he would put Simba to sleep for free. There was just too much going on in my head for me to process and I just went along with it. It was amazing how quickly he drafted up a piece of paper saying that he was not at fault that my puppy fell off HIS table. Whether Dr. Robert Beshai and Beach City Animal Hospital were at fault or not, I just believe that was very unprofessional of them with how my pets and I were treated. Dr. Robert Beshai and his staff seemed uncaring about the whole situation. I’m sure that if I’m on a hospital bed, my doctors and nurses would not let me fall of that bed. But at Beach City Animal Hospital, my puppy fell to the ground and got head trauma. Although Dr. Robert Beshai made me sign a waiver against him, I agree to not hold him personally responsible for this. But the fact is this incident did happen and here are some suggestions that maybe all vets can heed. Maybe if your examining table wasn’t so cold and slippery and had some sort of rail, my puppy would not have fell off your table. Maybe if your floor wasn’t so hard, my puppy would not have suffered head trauma when he landed. Maybe if you and your staff weren’t so self-absorbed and clueless that I had 3 puppies with me, someone could have given me a hand and helped me to have prevented this horrific incident. But all of these maybes won’t bring back my Simba. I hope we all learned from this lesson here so that this does not happen to other animals on your premises in the future so that others will not have to feel and endure the pain that I am going through.
