Oral Cancer Screening
We believe that a thorough examination is essential for us to be able to make an accurate diagnosis of your dental health. This examination includes asking you about your medical and dental history, performing an oral cancer screening, checking periodontal health, assessing for TMJ, recording and photographing nuances in your mouth and taking digital X-Rays of what we cannot see with our eyes alone.

Teeth Cleaning
That’s why dentists recommend that teeth undergo professional cleaning and consultation twice a year. Teeth cleaning is the removal of dental plaque and tartar in order to prevent cavities, gingivitis and gum disease. The average dental cleaning is a routine, rarely uncomfortable procedure that should take from 30 to 60 minutes, depending upon the patient.
Fluoride Treatment
A child’s initial examination usually involves a health history, any previous dental history, a visual inspection, X-Rays, a cleaning, and a fluoride treatment. Every attempt is made to make a child’s first appointment as pleasant as possible. Some children are not ready for all parts of the initial examination. We attempt to proceed at a pace comfortable for the child and perform only those parts for which the child is ready. The emotional mood of a child’s first dental experience often lasts a lifetime. We want that experience to be a pleasant one.
Dental Sealants
Sealants protect teeth especially vulnerable to decay. They are placed on hard to reach chewing surfaces, like pits and grooves. These irregularities are so tiny that toothbrush bristles don’t penetrate to remove the bacteria that lead to decay. According to the Institute of Dental Research, nearly 90 percent of cavities in school children occur in surfaces of teeth with pits and grooves, which are usually the back teeth.

Fillings
Resin Composite
After inspecting the tooth in question, our staff will select a color for the composite resin. We want the bonding to very closely match your tooth. Dr. Hoover or Dr. Yanda will then roughen the outer layer of your tooth, removing a minimal amount of tooth enamel. This is done so that they may apply a strong adhesive that will help the resin stick. The resin will then be shaped to fill in any cracks/gaps or to change the contours of your tooth. Afterwards, a strong LED light is used to “bond” the material to your tooth. A local anesthetic is generally only required when tooth decay or nerve damage is involved.
Veneers
After a thorough examination of your teeth, which may include X-rays, Dr. Hoover or Dr. Yanda will remove a thin layer of enamel from your teeth. Then, he or she will create an impression or digital scan and send it to our laboratory to create the veneer. While the permanent fixtures are being created, your dentist may provide you with temporary veneers. Finally, the veneers are given one last size and color adjustment before they are bonded to your tooth on your second visit.
Crowns
A ceramic crown is the best treatment route in a variety of situations. This includes restoring a tooth to its original size and shape, supplying additional physical support for a certain tooth, and completely “making over” an affected tooth. Crowns completely cover every visible part of the tooth, which is why they are sometimes referred to as “caps.” A part of your tooth remains but is essentially “rebuilt” to resemble the tooth at its exterior best.
Bridges
Dental bridges are used to replace missing a wholly missing tooth. One or more missing teeth can have a serious effect not only on your smile, but also on your dental health. Missing teeth can cause a plethora of problems.
Dental Bonding
Bonding is a procedure used to correct minor dental imperfections. Bonding, or cosmetic bonding, is a quick and affordable way to correct a variety of dental flaws. These include cracks, discoloration, gaps, low bite pressure (caused by short or uneven teeth), and tooth decay. If you have any of these dental issues you may be a good candidate for bonding.
Restorative Dentistry
In dentistry, extensive procedures can be completed to restore or replace natural teeth that have been damaged, decayed or lost. This discipline is known as restorative dentistry. Once Drs. Dentures
Whether a result of disease, injury, malnutrition or genetic disorders, sometimes it is necessary for dentists to extract all of a patient’s lower or upper teeth. While this can be devastating, dentures can provide a second chance at a beautiful smile. Dentures consist of a removable plate holding one or more artificial teeth.

Dental Implants
The most ideal way to replace a missing tooth is with a dental implant. It looks and feels much more like a natural tooth and does not require any attachment to neighboring teeth. It is permanently anchored to the jawbone.

Dr. Keith Hoover is a graduate of Hudson High School, where he played baseball, basketball, and football. He was a member of the National Honor Society, earned the Danforth Leadership Award and received the Hudson Women’s Club Scholarship. Keith then attended John Carroll University where he received honors for both academics and athletics. Following graduation from Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry, Keith served three years in the United States Navy Dental Corps. During his service, he received advanced training in General Dentistry, Periodontics, Endodontics, and Oral Surgery.

In 1989 April received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Case Western Reserve University. In addition to being a member of the local, state and national Dental Associations, she is also a member of The Academy of General Dentistry, Women in Dentistry and belongs to the Chagrin Valley Dental Study Club. Dr.Yanda is an elected delegate for the Ohio Dental Association House of Delegates. Dr. Yanda was the President of the Greater Cleveland Dental Society 2018-2019. She has a strong commitment to quality dentistry and supports that effort by attending numerous post-graduate courses, keeping abreast of state of the art procedures and technology. April realizes the importance of educating children at a young age and because of this, she donates her time making presentations at Hudson area preschools along with participating in Give Kids a Smile Day and Medworks.
