This school is the best high school I could ever have chosen to attend. It's a brand new school, and I am part of the first class. We get to participate in college prep classes and in a work study program where we work at corporate companies like, banks, law firms, hospitals and so on. Of course any CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL will be strict, but not overly strict. You get into trouble when you are doing something WRONG. We do have a growing sports program, featuring everything except football, but we are starting a flag football team next year. The school is constantly being renovated and improved. New lockers, new desks, new floors, etc. The teachers' lounge was also recently renovated to include TVs and a pool table, BUT the only reason that it was renovated was because the school won a Gallery Furniture competition that gave the school furniture for the TEACHERS LOUNGE. And personally, as a current student, I don't mind this at all. I love my teachers, and they deserve to at least have a nice place to be between classes, since a lot of them put in up to 15 hours a day being with us and helping us with whatever we need. If you're looking for a high school to JUST play sports at, then you shouldn't come here, because at crj, were all about getting into college and having a successful career. This school offers SOOOO many more opportunities compared to other high schools, not only the work study program, but also numerous field trips, clubs, teams, college trips, free tutoring, volunteer opportunities and much more. What I really like is that at my school, students have a voice. Every teacher and staff member knows you personally. And finally, Cristo Rey didn't Brainwash me OR my parents into anything. The only thing they brainwashed me into doing is being a more successful, responsible, and diligent student. I think that many more students should be "brainwashed" into believing that they can be whoever they want to be if they only try their best at all they do. I genuinely love my school, and I wouldn't want to be at any other high school but this one.
If you are looking for an exceptional education with a biblical worldview, this is the school for you. It has a small town feel in a city where most children get lost in public education. CCS just celebrated its 30th year and has had its best year so far. Our family has been at CCS for 7 years and our children have grown not just intellectually but spiritually. There have been some power struggles within but CCS has come out of the fire stronger. The staff from the head administrator, the principals, teachers and down to the volunteers have a love for Christ and display that in the school daily. The school offers everything from sports to the arts. If you are looking for a personal Christian education for your child, check out CCS.
This is the best school and preschool ever. My son has attend here for the last two years. He has excelled in his academic studies. They give homework every night, except church nights and they do the "coolest" projects ever that really teach the concepts not just busy work. The childcare is wonderful with great loving teachers that really take the time to get to know each student. The director is the most fascinating person, she has 25+ years experience and knows how to run a top facility. She follows all the state laws and know he ins and outs of the daycare industry.
