The leader of this church is Bro. Archie Hayward, and he is truly a man sent by God. When you go to this church, you will hear a word that is specific to you and that can help you turn away from sin. If you obey the teachings, you will prosper in the ways of God. The motto at this church is "We don't come here because we are already so good or so perfect. We come here to be made good." And we are made good by obeying the teaching and having the mind to go all the way for God. There are "Perfecting of the Saints " bible studies here on Wednesday and Friday nights at 7:30pm where you can ask any question that you want and will get an answer straight from the word of God. Ask anything that you want to know, and Bro. Hayward can answer it. On Sundays, Sunday School starts at 10 am with Sunday Service Beginning at 11 am. Every 3rd Sunday of each month, we have our Young Adults on Fire for Christ Service at 6:30 pm. How many churches have you seen with young adults that live by the word of God: no cursing, no fornication, no drinking, no smoking, no adultery, no clubbing? It is happenning at Refuge Tabernacle. God is truly working in us, and I thank God for giving me an opportunity to hear his word and repent that my soul could be saved. Coming to Refuge Tabernacle was the best thing that ever happened to me. Come and see for yourself.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Pastor Brown of Salt Mine Ministries was very well studied in the word of God. She is an exceptional teacher, preacher, and counselor. Pastor Brown also carries the Theology credentials to fortify her standing as a community and spiritual leader as well as role model; she has earned a degree of Th.D (Doctorate in Theology). There is a warm, caring, loving, and spirit filled atmosphere at this church. It is a small white church that sits on an inner city block that shines as an oasis in this neighborhood. I happen to prefer smaller churches, as I have attended some of the mega churches in the city and felt lost in the shuffle. At this church I am fully engaged in the Chrisitian spiritual experience. All of the members were welcoming, very nice, and inviting. I enjoyed the service and have attended several times since my first visit. I am now under serious consideration of joining this ministry. They even serve breakfast after the morning service (How cool is that?) :-)
Prince of Peace is a great church. And it is big – the buildings and the number of parishioners. It has a lot of different things to offer to all ages, ethnicity and preferred activities. The best way to really get to appreciate this Catholic Community is to participate in one or more of the following: several bible study opportunities, International Festival, women’s and men’s prayer breakfasts and retreats, movie nights, concerts, golf tournaments, parish cruises, pilgrimages to Rome or the Holy Land. You can also be of service by helping to distribute food and Christmas presents to those in need, sign up for an hour of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, serve as a liturgical minister (Usher, Eucharistic Minister, etc.), or go on a mission trip to Guatemala. No matter who you are, you are bound to find something that will help you develop a closer relationship with God while making new friends and serving others.
