Moviegoers with savoir-faire can catch an independent or foreign flick at this theater, built in 1939. The downstairs theater is grandiose and baroque, all heavy red-velvet curtains, patterned carpet and ornate carvings, with moderately comfortable seats. The two upstairs screening rooms are tiny and cramped; even the most diminutive person will want for more space. Two concession stands carry standard fare, as well as herbal teas, gourmet coffee, Ben & Jerry's ice cream, high-end candies and vegan cookies. A funky cafe-like hangout next to the upstairs concession is painted in folk-art style and includes all sorts of alternative reading material. Tip: Catch special midnight movies on Friday and Saturday nights.

I go to the movies about 5-6 times a month. I'm addicted. I actually love this movie theater. Yes there's talking because unless they pay 30 people to sit in every single one of their showings for the entire film they can't catch everyone. I've seen groups of kids thrown out who we're trying to…

Theaters and restrooms are always clean. Movie theater popcorn is excellent. Movies are always first rate. Personnel are friendly, area is safe, parking is close. Yes, we have to pay but we are inside the loop in Houston. Kids go on Friday night so don't go on Friday night when they attend…
I had a pass to see a movie. The guy at the outside ticket window spent five minutes trying to issue me a ticket, then gave up. He couldn't figure out how to turn on his speaker, so he had to lean down to speak through the small hole that they slide the tickets through. He told me to go inside to the customer service desk. I did, and handed my pass to the woman there. She got snippy with me, told me the pass wasn't accepted there, but she'd comp me. ???????? The pass was definitely supposed to be honored by AMC theaters, but since I was getting in anyway, I quit arguing. Unpleasant and unhelpful employees. The theater itself is clean and spacious.
The lines were super long and the people in them did not look friendly. The manager got crazy on my bf and I because he didn't have his I.d. We are clearly of age and I showed him my own. After fussing with us back and forth he finally decided to give us a refund. I was explaining my receipt to him and he was like "you know what guys just go okay". He obviously didn't want to lose the money. In the theathers there was way to many people walking around and someone kept kicking my seat from behind. I feared that if I ask them to stop that they would attack me. Over all I like the place it was a pretty amc theather but it sucked.
