I recently had Westheimer Transfer assigned as the packing company for my military PCS move to Alaska. The good: team was polite and quick with the collection of my items from my Mom's, and the shipment arrive on time. The bad: neglegence. I had a gun safe with 13 guns as the majority of the pick up. The pre-move inspection person wrote that I had a "gun cabinet", not a safe, so the packing crew wasn't prepared for a 24-gun fire safe upon arrival. When my items arrived, 4 of the 13 guns were damaged as well as the safe. They just left all the shotgund/rifles in the door rack and just assumed they would stay put, which they didn't. Also, they didn't inspect/inventory the shipment properly and just copied the list of guns my Mom had put together onto the inventory log, and that wasn't even done right. They left one of my now damaged guns off the list and the claims adjuster isn't even going to consider pating out for that item, since it wasn't officially documented as part of the shipment. On top of that, they lied to the claims adjuster, telling him my Mom insisted that they be packed as they were, stating that she said, "it was shipped that way before and all was fine." the only "shipping" that safe had previously is when I carried it to Houston in the bed of a pickup, with all of the guns removed and placed in the cab. Do NOT use unless you like to deal with neglegent liars.
