If you are struggling with dry eye syndrome, run, don't walk to see Dr. Panzer. After hitting 50, I developed a dry eye condition that made it impossible to wear my contacts for more than a few hours a day. Dr. Panzer has diligently and patiently worked with me to find a solution that will allow me to wear my contacts so that I have the acute clarity I need to read documents all day and be able to wear my contacts for days, not hours. Dr. Panzer is passionate about his patients and his practice. He is the most knowledgeable eye doctor I've ever met. (And, I confess, I did seek two other doctors in my quest to find a workable solution to my dry eye problems and came back to Dr. Panzer because no one knew as much about the condition as Dr. Panzer) . He recently prescribed a new eye drop that has been incredibly successful for me. He has offered to meet me at his office on Saturdays when I've been having eye issues but travelling during the week. How many doctors do you know that will do that? Probably none. His commitment to his patients, his passion for finding solutions to eye problems and his commitment to his professional service is outstanding. His rates are reasonable. HIs staff is competent. When you call with a question, he personally calls you back. I'd give him ten stars if I could for his dedication to his patients and practice.

Dr. Panzer is a very professional man. He takes as much time as needed to do an exam. He will answer any questions that you have concerning your eye exam. He has the up to date equipment to help with a faster and more thorough exam. I drive from Oklahoma and will continue to drive all the way to Houston as long as Dr. Panzer is there. I highly recommend his business to anyone with optometry needs.

On several occaisions Dr Panzer made time on off- hours or squeezed my wife or I in when we had an eye emergency.\r \r You generally don't have to look for second opinions because if he is unsure he has no issues with sending you to the required specialist to double check a diagnosis.

I have been a patient of Dr. Allan Panzer for over 15 years. He is a fantastic therapeutic optometrist who always goes the extra mile. Dr . Panzer is the best at what he does. He is very honest & trustworthy. He goes above & beyond for his patients & their health.The service at his clinic is very exceptional. I would recommend him to anyone who needs eye care, he even available for emergencies.I can remember him opening up one Saturday just to take care of my eye needs!

Dr. Panzer is a great OD specialist, he has all the equipment and experience to do the job, and most of all he cares about his patients health. My mother always said Dr. Panzer really checks your eyes, so I tried him and realized why so many people use him. Dr Panzer is one of a kind in his practice.

Well worth my drive!

I live about 30 minutes south east of Dallas in Kemp Tx. Needless to say driving to houston was a ""last"" resort! My son has been experiencing Eye problems since the age of 5. I had been to every OD- specialist Metro plex area for 6 years!!! I was told he had poor eyesight! So He was given glasses. My child could not open his eyes in the light! Could not Play outside. A parent knows when something is NOT right!!! I made the drive to see Dr. Panzer around Feb. of 2010. The doctor looked in my sons eyes, turned to me and said : Your son has Thygeson's!!! I was floored. A diagnosis ""Finally"" . We are able to treat this with a eyedrop.(restasis). After treatment we find out my son does not even need glasses. His vision was fine the whole time! My son can now able to open his eyes outside, and I am happy to report very excited about taking drivers ed next year. Something that would not be possible without Dr. Allan Panzer!!!

thorough and straight forward

Dr. Panzer has been my optometrist for many years. He has always been very straight forward and direct. He was very concerned when I developed dry eyes. After my opthamologist's treatment did not improve my condition, he stepped in and sent me to see a specialist for dry eye syndrom. Not only did he refer me to an opthamologist, but he also made me aware of a procedure I could benefit from, that at this point is only offered in New York. His care and concern for the patient is remarkable.

My wife and I have both been patients of Dr. Allan Panzer for over 15 years. He is a fantastic therapeutic optometrist who always goes the extra mile. We regularly visit the office for a wide range of services, including annual exams, eyewear, glass repairs, eye care supplies - and even an infection and scratched eye. His onsite lab is very convenient and his response time is quick. His appointments are thorough - and the office staff is knowledgeable and personable. I went to Dr. Panzer after seeing 3 other doctors for my dry eyes. He shared with me the latest dry eye research and we tried several different treatments. Finally my eyes started to get better. But i was not completely clear. He told me that he believed I must have some other problem that was causing my eyes to be so dry. He was absolutely correct. A trip to the dentist found an abscessed tooth and this was contributed to my dry eyes. If you have dry eyes I can highly recommend Dr. Panzer. I found his staff to be very helpful in explaining my vision benefits and helping get the most for my insurance dollar.

Outstanding Optometrist

My company relocated to Houston in 2006 and like any other aspect of my new life finding a good optometrist was a challenging task.\r i have keratoconus in my left eye and has gone by a cornea transplant and cataract surgery in my right eye. Before Dr. Panzer it was a nightmare, no one could figured out my glasses prescription nor help me with a good set of contact lenses. He was the only one that could found not only the closest prescription ever; but he also gave a excellent new tecnology pair of contact lenses. My vision has improved tremendously and I'm able to use contact lenses for the first time since my surgery.\r \r Thanks Dr. Panzer.

Excellent Optometrist

I started seeing Allan for my vision needs in 1988. I have always found him to be honest & forthright. He has always taken the time and expended the effort needed to assess my vision needs correctly and provide the proper solutions. He has a policy of ""going the extra mile"" for his patients. As an example: I am having cataract surgery soon and had some questions about the procedure. I left a message for Allan to call me around mid afternoon and he returned my call and answered my questions around 7:00 PM this evening. This guy does a good job. You couldn't expect anything better in my opinion which is why I and my family have been his patients for over 20 years.

Grad student needs glasses

I just moved to Houston a few weeks ago to start grad school. While reading the ENORMOUS amount of articles for my first week, I found my eyes fluttering and I was falling asleep a lot. I couldn't focus. I called my doc back home and he said it was time to get my eyes checked (it had been two years). I did a few quick searches online, and stumbled across Dr. Panzer. I read the reviews and made a phone call. Not only did Dr. Panzer and his staff make time for me immediately, he stayed late to make me a pair of glasses that same day! Now, even though I still have just as much reading to do (and more), my eyes are comfortable and no longer straining. Dr. Panzer and his staff were accommodating, welcoming, friendly and very helpful. I would (and have) recommend him to anyone who needs a new eye doctor, or is looking for a change. Thank you, Dr. Panzer! (Now, if only you could make the reading more interesting, too!)

Very Frustrating Experience

I guess the other reviewers are his favored patients. I had an appointment and I waited and waited. He actually saw someone who just walked in before me! When I finally got to the back he was rude about another patient's weight. He was just rude and I did not feel he paid me the attention I deserved. I was just really turned off by the whole experience. I needed new glasses and a very nice lady was helping me. I told her my budget and we found some I really liked. But he insisted she show me glasses way out of my budget. He was rude to his staff and they in turn (except for the nice red haired lady) had massive attitude. I will buy my glasses elsewhere. The whole thing was a disaster. I would recommend going to Walmart before going here.

It's Like Having a Doctor in the Family

Dr. Panzer is truly an amazing doctor and one who goes ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty for his patients. \r \r A quick story to share. A couple yrs ago, we were in Disney World, FL and I scratched my eyeball like a bad paper cut. The pain was unbearable, it was Sunday, doctor offices closed, so I went to the emergency room which was a terrible mistake. They gave me some kind of gel, a bill for about $2000 and sent me away crying in pain. They said the only thing they could do is let it heal. So I called Dr. Panzer. He sent me back to the ""so called"" doctor in FL with a list of instructions & drops I needed - (the first thing was to throw out that gel). The gel was like putting paste in my eye, making the pain worse! The Florida doctor followed his instructions, put in a contact lense to act as an eye bandage. The pain level went from a 10 to a 2. \r \r This is just one story. He treats his patients like he would a family member. That's why he's been our doctor for 20 years & we drive over an hour to get to his office. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. \r \r \r \r

I spent over 15 years with marginal vision due to failed RK. Many doctors, no results until I met Dr Panzer. Before Panzer all the Doctors I visited collected their fees, ignored the lack of results, and went to patients that were easy money. Panzer would not give up. I have lost count of the number of corrective lenses and glasses we tried. Due to time it would take trying to correct vision he started seeing me on Sundays where we would not be rushed. How many Doctors do you know that care that much. Results are the best corrected vision I have enjoyed since RK. Chatting with other Panzer patients, I have heard other success stories based upon a man that puts his patients FIRST. By the way I have never written a review on internet.

Dr Allan Panzer is a highly effective communicator.He made a positive first impression with me on my first visit. He displays a high level of technical competence and possesses specialized skills in all phases of his profession.What I like about him most is that he translates problems you may worry about into a practical approach that will ease any concerns you may have like I did. As I told him on my visit to him that I only have 2 eyes and he knows how to reaassure you about all of the procedures he is about to perform on you.He diagnosed me with ""DRY EYE SYNDROME"" and since then my eyesight has improved beyond my wildest dreams.He is an eye specialist that uses understandable language that is relevant and meaningful.His opthalmic equipment is first class and modern.He explained to me every aspect of his findings throughout my exam with him. In summary,Dr Allan Panzer is sincere,has a calm,even temperament and displays a positive,friendly and a relaxed attitude.Finally he is a gentleman who demonstrates strong technical and operational knowledge and is exceptionally well informed on all of the multiple opthalmic conditions that exist these days. His front office staff are alert ,quick and responsive. After my exam with the the new presription in hand,(post eye exam).... I reviewed the large display of spectacles in the reception area .I received undivided attention from this beautiful person named Nicci and she spent nearly one hour with me.She found my dream glasses with non stop attention to detail with her years of experience.(I felt like I wanted to wash her car for her after all she had done for me). Today was the first time in Dr. Panzer's office for us; my son had an apoinment. We felt welcome from the moment we walked in the door. Dr. Panzer is an outstanding doctor with his great sense of humor, but he is also a man looking out for my son's well-being, that was more than I expected when the owner of the business I work for recommended him. Not only did he get a script that is perfict for my son, but Dr. Panzer also helped me find a doctor to help my son with another problem outside his expertise. All in all, driving about an hour to get to his office was more than worth it\r for the excellent service we received. I know we found a new eye doctor with him. Thank you

One of the Best Optometrists in Houston

Dr. Panzer is a wonderful doctor. He very attentive and efficent with each one of his patients. I along with my husband have been examined by him and it was truly a pleasure. He takes time to clearly explain what he is doing and why. I would not trust my eyes to anyone else. Everytime I have been in his office, I have heard nothing but good things about him from other patients. His front office staff is phenominal. I would encourage everyone to visit him just once and you will be hooked!
