A little bit overrated

Last time I was charged thirty something dollars for six gorditas, but you know what? They were really good. I gotta admit, the food is good, but not EXCEPTIONAL. You really want good tacos? Take it from a Mexican, go to a taco stand instead. The only thing I really really like about this restaurant is the bar (which has the classics) and the lemonade. Oh, and try to not go around midday. It gets mad crazy in there.

Friendly Food

Much nicer inside than you'd expect from the outside, everyone seemed busy. Chips are great, well cooked but not greasy, but the warm salsa was a little disappointing. Everything I have eaten here was excellent, and the staff are really eager to please. Try the Cochinita Pobil (slow-simmered pork) served with some crisp, red-pickled onion. It's their specialty, and it delivers. Clean (except for the glasses hanging over the bar) and comfortable.

GREAT authentic Mexican food.

You will not find tex-mex here. Otilia's offers quite an extensive selection of authentic mexican dishes. Their mole is fantastic!--the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. Also, the Otilia's picadillo is excellent, so any of the dishes that feature this meat I'm sure would be excellent including the Otilia's enchiladas. (Three tortillas filled with picadillo topped with a red sauce and sprinkles of cotija cheese.) Highly Recommended!!!!!!!!

good mexican food

The food here is good.. but not spectacular. Its probably one of the better places for authentic mexican food in town. I really liked the tres leches here.. its similar to Churrascos tres leches but not as rich. Its also in a bad part of town and the decor is kinda lacking.

This is the most authentic mexican food I have found in the US outside Mexico. The Cochinita, Mole and Chiles Enogadas are all to die for. You will also find a wide variety of aguas frescas that are delicious.

Houston's best Mexican

Delicious Mexican food at reasonable prices in a not-so-good location.
