Yesterday, my husband, two daughters and I went to Noah's Ark Grooming & Pets, 13155 Westheimer, Suite 131, and apparently Suite 141, to adopt a little black kitten showcased on ARK's petfinder pages.
You wouldn't believe the deplorable conditions in this so-called charity AND business. The cats are in several cages - no less than 4 cats per cage. They aren't identified as male or female (and the girl who worked there didn't know how to tell the difference between male & female cats).
Then, it gets worse.
Every cat cage had a litter box with a tiny bit of litter in it - but was overflowing with feces - most specifically, the diarrhea type. There was either little or no water in bowls, and very little, if any, food. The girl started to clean one cage after I complained and told her it needed attention. One little black female kitten in this cage had hair missing from its ears and face.
When the girl put food in the cage, the 5 cats swarmed the bowl. Apparently they aren't fed regularly.
There are flies all over the place - and it reeks of urine/ammonia. To top it off, there were bugs in many of the water bowls - especially the ones for dogs. One dog had maybe 1/4 cup of water, complete with bug & fly. This dog also had a bloody gash on its ear & smelled awful. I doubt it has had any medical attention.
There were also birds in cages - the doves (two of them) water bowl was so filled with feces, it discolored the water and was floating on top of the water. There was an empty cage near the dogs - with a towel in it - covered in more feces.
Then, there's a fish tank. Half-full of algae water - I can't imagine the last time it was cleaned - but can't tell if there's anything living or dead in the tank.
I peeked behind the counter and saw tons of dog hair (I'm assuming) on the floor - and more flies. There were dead and live bugs everywhere. Some other cages, the plastic ""box"" kind, like for hamsters, were empty. One, on the bottom shelf, was full of shavings & at least one dead rodent. Not sure what kind.
A shelf near the counter was dusty-dirty and filled with, you guessed it, more bugs.
Back to the kitten we wanted to adopt... Well, I asked for an adoption application and the girl made a call. She said, ""he does all of the adoptions, but he'll be back in about an hour and a half."" I had no clue what ""he"" meant. When I asked who owned the place, the girl responded, ""Why?""
I'm following up on the complaints I filed against ARK/Noah's Ark and am also contacting the Texas Secretary of State, Animal Cops Houston, and any other agency necessary until these animals are removed from these sad, deplorable conditions, and this business is prosecuted, or whatever else can be done.
I've already called Houston Police Department, the SPCA, Animal RAIDERs. I felt you should be alerted that this business is abusing/mistreating/neglecting and exploiting animals. I can only imagine the types of tax benefits this Carlos Davis receives at the expense of these poor animals.
