Murphy Oil Corporation is primarily engaged in exploration, production, refining and marketing oil and gas. The company operates in two segments: refining and marketing and exploration and production. The refining and marketing segment consists of refining crude oil and other feedstock into petroleum products, such as gasoline and distillates, and buying and selling crude oil and refined products in the United States and the United Kingdom. The exploration and production segment explores and produces crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids in Canada, the Gulf of Mexico, Malaysia and Republic of Congo. Overall, refining and marketing accounted for 82 percent of the company s revenues in 2005, while exploration and production accounted for the remaining 18 percent. While Murphy Oil Corporation is the holding company, its business operations are carried out by subsidiaries that include Murphy Exploration & Production Company, Murphy Oil USA, Murphy Oil Company and Murphy Eastern Oil Company. Claiborne P. Deming has been the chief executive officer of Murphy Oil for more than 12 years. He has been with the oil and gas operation for over 27 years. Deming earned Ba and JD degrees from Tulane University. Murphy Oil Corporation is headquartered in El Dorado, Ark.
