I'm pretty picky with Persian food; it's either home cooked food or Kasra, to be honest. But when I first took a bite of the kobideh here at Shiraz--I melted. There are so many flavors, the meat is just perfect! The meat is so tender and juicy--and the RICE!!! Not even my mom can make rice this good--definitely five stars all over! The owner is also pretty nice and would come check on us once in a while, very thoughtful. They definitely have a permanent customer with me. The place seems pretty quiet, but I went before their grand opening. Fingers crossed that it sticks around! I'm going to edit my review to add that I've been going once every two weeks, and the food has always been amazing
Sam's Cafe is a family friendly restaurant with Sichuan style food prepared as home-style cooking. Let's just say that the food is BANG. Everything from this place was legit. I think the mapo tofu, although a very typical dish was actually my favorite out of the 5 dishes we ordered (mapo tofu, orange chicken, green beans, double cooked pork, honey shrimp). The double cooked pork and the green beans were excellent. I could tell that this place will continue to do well. I suggest the owner hiring more waitress or waiters though. It's almost full during lunch time and one waitress is obviously not able to serve all the guests. But that's acceptable. Go check this place out. It's worth it. You will, however, leave the place smelling like you cooked it all yourself, a big indicator of good food in my opinion. Since the first time, I have ordered delivery and dined in store many times and it has become my favorite chinese restaurant in the loop.
Cafe Adagio was a great alternative to the Red Cat or Sambuca's. The music area holds about 50 people plus the bar. They have a second conversation area for those who need a little distance from the stage. The turn out was light but enthusiastic. The music was great. The second set was dynamite with great solos from the lead guitar and drummer. The sax was really solid. As always the vocals were over powered by the band. A shame. The lighting was mood modifying but not dark. The staff were friendly and attentive. The kitchen came out with free offerings of chili and corn bread that really hit the spot. The cover was typical. The house drink prices were a little over the top. Hope their kitchen develops a lite menu. Definitely in the repeat category. Could become a favorite hangout on a weekend
