We recently had a party for our son's 21st birthday. Let me begin by saying how remarkable of an event it was due to the quality of the food and the excellent service provided by the staff. Neither our son nor his friends had ever been there, and to their amazement and enjoyment were the breathtaking views and Zen-like grounds. First off, the food we ate. The steak was prepared exactly as we ordered, medium. Not under-cooked, nor well done, it was just right. As for the seafood, the tempura was not flat and soggy as some restaurants do, nor was it under/over cooked. Multiple dishes of sashimi and sushi were delivered and "wow" how fresh and delicious it all was. There were many many more dishes, but the steak and seafood were what this occasion called for and we had nothing but a great meal. On top of that, if you choose to you can bring your own alcohol you may do so - BYOB! Most importantly - the team of Natsunoya delivered big time and I appreciate the Fujiwara family for making it all possible and for an incredible evening. You can check out their website for more information about their room rentals, but you should go in person as it doesn't fully show you what you're in for should you want to have a party there. We'll be back for sure - Warren

The Willows is an unexpected escape from the congestion of downtown Honolulu. And by unexpected I mean you literally drive down what seems to be a typical city neighborhood on a small side street and then find yourself walking in to a tropical garden that is lush and serene and filled with soothing features like a water fall, rambling stream and bubbling fountains-- oh the fountains, sigh... I do love them so. The buffet is amazing and has something for everyone. Really, this is a wonderful place to host a gathering of friends and family just be sure to remember to tell them to come hungry-- like really hungry and oh, also, to wear comfy shoes as the restaurant is best described as a collection of bungalows surrounding a fountain filled courtyard and with the entire buffet housed in one of the dwellings well, you may be up for a bit of a walk to refill your plates. Which really is quite a nice opportunity to stretch in between plates of overflowing yumminess-- if you have on comfy shoes. INSIDER TIPS: Come hungry, make reservations and plan on paying for valet parking or allowing for time spent driving around looking for parking. And also don't be freaked out by the neighborhood-- you'll be so incredibly impressed once inside this gem of an eating experience.
I have just come from MacDonalds on Beretania. There is nothing wrong with the food. I always go for my senior coffee and the new mango/peach pie. The problem is management. Do you not train them to help their workers? This girl did not know how to enter coupons that 2 kids and their mother were using. The girl kept waiting for help, and there was only one line @ 7pm and everyone in line was getting mad. I had to yell at her manager t get over and help her. Why are your restaurants always short staffed. Why can't they call in workers to help. I had the same experience at the Waialae Rest. that has since closed to remodel. Again a women manager was barking out orders to employee's that where in the back of the work area. I really got upset to hear her keep yelling out orders rather than go back there and talk. I started to walk out but went back and asked to talk to her. I told her I was upset hearing her yell and everyone was looking at her. She apologized but I said she should know better being a manager. Are these people on power trips? Its so low class. Get your act together and start training these people. If this keeps up you're going to lose clients to the other fast food. Their coffee is just a good and they are right across the street.
