  making our way back to waikiki gateway next week. will be our third time in 2 years there. enjoy it every time. it's not beachfront and the ocean view is only good for those with 20/20 x-ray vision. the ""breakfast"" works for people who wake up early enough and who like having sweets. otherwise, just have coffee. you do have to pay for the extra coffee in your room, so get it up there. it's is across the street from Niketown and other expensive stores (beware guys, walk your girl across the street because Tiffany's is on the hotel side). the Ala Moana trolley stops right in front. bus stop for Diamond Head/Haunama Bay also. there is a name brand car rental co. a block down. beach is 7-10mins walking, room to sand. staff is cool. if you want to WASTE your time in hawaii in your room, concerned about more than 4 walls, a roof and running water, the Waikiki Gateway is NOT for you. if you want to lay out on the beach, eat shrimp in north shore, snorkel on the reef, drink mai tai's at happy hour, have a pineapple smoothie at Dole, enjoy a luau, watch the sunset in the middle of the pacific... if you want to ENJOY hawaii, this hotel IS for you.
