We were there from the start...The Faculty of Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health have been caring for the women of Hawai’i and wider pacific basin for almost half a century and were part of the original three visionary leaders that established the John A Burns School of Medicine in 1965. What started as a OB/GYN residency training program located in the Mary Foster wing of the Kapi’olani Hospital, the Department has grown into one of the largest and strongest clinical departments of the John A. Burn’s School of Medicine, University of Hawaii.
We care for the women of Hawai’i...In 2004, the Department of OB/GYN and Women’s Health became the first department to fully integrate with the medical school’s faculty practice plan, the University, Clinical, Educational, and Research Associates (UCERA). By doing so, the department faculty reinforced its strong commitment to the medical school and to the state, to contribute not only to the teaching mission, but to serve the community by providing and promoting excellence in clinical care, patient safety and continuous quality improvement.
