Mrs Ogeone

Mrs. Ogeone, I'm very sorry that you have come to lack confidence in my assistant and feel you had a bad experience in the office. She has 12 years of experience and is a dentist in the PI. I have worked with her for seven years and she has made many fine temporary bridges (very few of which break). I can assure you that she is always very conscious of maintaining a sterile field as is everyone in our office. Let me reiterate what I communicated to you at our last appointment: 1) Temporary bridges sometimes break as they are made of a weaker material than the final restoration. We advise avoidance of chewing on the side where the temporary is placed. 2) The gums are often sore for a few days due to retraction cord placement and the temporary bridge usually does come down and "sit on the gums"as you phrased it. 3) Having the temporary replaced immediately if breakage occurs is very important for protection of the teeth and for keeping the gums from growing up over the margins of the prepared teeth. When you came to our office with no bridge in place and we discussed all options, I informed you that your bridge retainer teeth were very weakened due to root canals and large post placement and that increasing the length of the bridge by adding another tooth for strength was advisable. I also recommended porcelain fused to high noble metal for esthetic reasons. You desired to have the bridge simply replaced on the weakened retainer teeth and subsequently, to have a full gold bridge made. You were not able to come in yesterday to have the temporary bridge remade or repaired by my associate (who also works with my assistant) while I was at work in Kona. Very little modification of your teeth was done. The marginal areas were cleaned up and the teeth were prepared slightly. I have before and after stone models of the bridge area. I'm truly sorry that you are uncomfortable with my assistant but she is the only one I have. I can make the temporary myself, but I will be working alongside my assistant. It it apparent from your complaints that my office has not met your level of expectation. Furthermore, you have chosen to opt for treatment other than what I have recommended in terms of bridge length and material. For these reasons, I feel it is best that I stop the case with the lab and refund the deposit you put down so that you can find a dentist to do your bridge with an assistant that you feel confident with. I have called the lab and had them discontinue fabrication of your bridge. On a time availability basis, I will provide temporary bridge repair/remake and provide emergency care in the area I worked on for the next 30 days at no charge. I will have a member of my office staff contact you to ensure that you received and read this email. We will refund your deposit for the bridge tomorrow. From this point forward, it is best to communicate with our office by phone. Moria Amjadi
