Wai-Kahala along with Atherton Preschool in Kailua piloted the toddler program using Diane Trister Dodge's Creative Curriculum for two year olds. The program stimulates social and emotional development, emphasizing language skills. Recent improvements to their playground have made Wai-Kahala the perfect choice for your child. TumbleBus (gymnastics) and ballet are offered at the school for an additional fee. Swim classes are also available during the summer at a Community Swim Club. All staff meet State licensing requirements.
Wai-Kahala School, KCAA's first new school after WWII was built in 1953. It was a model for its time with the entire school scaled to a three-year old's eye level. Since its opening, the school has been a popular choice for early childhood education and care because of its convenient location across from Kahala Mall. In 1972, President Richard Nixon also found it convenient and arrived on the lawn outside the school in a helicopter accompanied by his wife and members of his cabinet!
