The resident manager of our Honolulu…
The resident manager of our Honolulu condo recommended Sonoda Plumbing. But the previous review nearly kept me away because it was vicious and personal. After my positive experience today, I felt compelled to register on this website just to correct the negative image left by the earlier review. I decided that everybody deserves a first chance. And I am glad I went with Sonoda Plumbing. Owner Ed faxed me a written estimate. Plumbers Gino and Randy showed up right on time for the replacement of water heaters in two of our units. They are mature, courteous, professional. I learned that the plumber named Kyle in an earlier negative review was released due to a lack of manners and other problems. But these guys, Gino and Randy, are top notch and fast, no shortcuts or cutting corners, and they cleaned up after themselves. I deal with plumbers a lot and I know first rate plumbers when I see 'em. I would not hesitate a nanosecond to use Sonoda Plumbing for all of my plumbing issues again. These guys deserve 5 stars!

Don't use this plumber, rip off business!
If you call for what they charge they tell you its $75/hr. one hour minimum. Then when you get the bill they charge you for two plumbers @ $78/hr. I had a job done by them thinking it would take only an hour's charge. In fact it only took 20 minutes to complete the job. They charged me for two plumbers (which they look like teenagers) so the labor charges were $117 not the $75 I thought it would be. They also tried to nickel and dime me charging for more parts then they used.
When you question Ed Sonoda he denies quoting that price. Very deceiving and manipulative guy. Terrible personality for a business person. Won't even listen to what you have to say. Would make any customer angry. Do not use this plumber unless you want to get ripped off! I hope the BBB puts this guy out of business! -
Bad business practices

This is one of the worst experiences of my life. The plumber named Kyle kept changing the price from $590 to $400 and then back to $590. After asking for an estimate 3 times and not getting one, I finally said to just cancel the work order. He charged me $59 to initially come out and look at the problem. I called his boss, Ed and told him that I was concerned about not getting an estimate and Kyle repeated switching the prices around between the work and the cost of a new water heater. I also told Ed that he never said anything about the cost of coming out to look at the problem which was never fixed-noise from my kitchen faucet. He said it was SOP to charge $35 per hour for house calls. I'm still wondering why he charged me $59 since he was there for only 3/4 of an hour or 45 minutes. Don't go to Sonoda Plumbing they're a rip off!
