I'd give the Royal Hawaiian more stars, but the rooms are really tiny and most don't have a view. The location is great, and the outside area is on the perfect stretch of Waikiki, albeit crowded. The hotel is an historic landmark, but it's just so sad that it's now shadowed by towering highrise hotels next door. And the adjacent mall... It doesn't make a difference how much they try to renovate it, it's dreadfully designed and completely hides the Royal Hawaiian from Kalakaua.
