Prior to attending RIVERDANCE at the Orpheum, my wfe and I enjoyed an outstanding dining experience at the Majestic. Beginning with, Cornmeal-Crusted Calamari appetizer; lightly crisp crust, gently seasoned and soft flavorful calimari bites. Superb. Chili that left your palate with a definite afterglow. Authentic, flavorful and wow! Mixed Greens Salad; greens straight from the garden with a light, sparkling vinagrette dressing. This course was accompanied by a basket of steaming hot, fresh baked rolls and rich whipped butter. Aroma, texture, taste, just like home-made. We selected the Roast pork Loin and the Sauteed Trout Almondine from the Pre-Theatre Menu. The pork loin was done to perfection, moist, tender and gently flavored with a pan gravy. It was accompanied by a potato "hash, so flavorful it threatened to overshadow the loin. Trout Almondine; crispy skin, moist flaky flesh, accompanied with stir fried green beans and rice. Heavenly! "Shot Glass" Desserts, Key Lime Pie and Tiramisu, they left you wanting more. A fitting end to a grand meal. Ambiance: casual elegance. Service: Prompt, professional and polite. Alexandria was very personable, helpful and fun. The meal presentation was flawless. Location: Easy walking to The FEDEX Forum, The Orpheum Theatre, Beale Street and the Peabody. Reservations are a must. We are eagerly anticipating returning to The Majestic to explore the full menu.

The food is good. Reasonable priced and good portions. There is room for improvement: 1. We've ordered food at the drive thru both visits and we had to constantly repeat the order. Our first visit an item that we paid for was not in the order. We had made it home and chalked it up as a 3.00 loss. The second visit we again we had to constantly repeat the order. The worker kept interrupting me while I tried to correct where she had errors in it. The was to have 1 cheeseburger w/no lettuce and tomato, she also left off the onion. It was supposed to have been included. So there should be some work on the customer service skills: not having the customer to have to repeat the order and get the order right. 2. The menu marquee needs some work. There are many spelling errors on there, customers have to decipher what they are trying to order. I'm chalking it as mistakes that can be easily corrected, small things like this reflects bad on the business. Sharks serve good food and as in everything there is always room for improvement.
During our family reunion in Memphis last month, what could go wrong did go wrong. We'd hired a company to plan the agenda for the reunion and facilitate the gathering of the relatives during our weekend in Memphis. Unfortunately the company we hired proved grossly inadequate, buses weren't where they were supposed to be, tour times were mixed up, luggage was lost and the list of problems continued. The only bright star of our trip was the Doubletree Hotel Downtown, and the lengths their staff went to, to improve the quality of our stay. They were both helpful and went above and beyond in every way right up to and including their wonderful audio/visual department that accommodated our every request at prices that were very fair. I do not know if we will ever have another reunion as the matriarch of our family is now fully in the twilight of her life, but I would not hesitate to recommend the Doubletree Hotel to others and know the next time I'm in Memphis I will be staying there again!
