Ottawa Beach Inn

Always passed this restaurant on the way to Holland State Park, but was never able to stop and try. Server was well kept, soft spoken. Only when we nagged the waitress about our entree's whereabouts, the light bulb glowed "Oh yeah, that's probably up and waiting by now" Nice. If it's up and waiting where was it hanging out? I didn't want food that's been hanging around, and thus my appetite was lost. I mentioned that I no longer wanted the entree, that seemed to escape her attention She appeared unaffected and simply said, "You'll still have to pay for it" Pay for what, I was thinking? I don't HAVE anything to pay for! She brings my husband's food and offers to him a condiment, which also was on the list of forgotten food. All service to our table halted with the exception of the bill. No refill on my husband's $1.95 soda in a 6 ounce glass (as we watched her pass by at least 6 times, apparently getting nothing for anyone) Trying to find some satisfaction for poor service and lack of reason for an $8 sandwich (I was also charged for the substituted potato salad instead of fries another $2) I kindly asked for the manager, but I was graced by a man who called himself THE OWNER (15 min later) What can I say? He was tragically impossible, and felt that if he offered some kind of reparation for this service faux pas, he would be opening the door to 'free meal tickets' for COMPLAINERS, and was insensitive to the fact I was (like many tourists) on a bicycle and did not want to have a bag of food swinging from my handlebars. Uninterested in our concerns and was disconnected in his relation to our importance. I would like to rate this 0; but keeps thinking I forgot to complete this field. You might be tempted, as we were to visit this chuck wagon but you were informed. Much more reasonable priced food with beautiful interior, and kinder staff is only a mile further from the beach inland. You'd do better eating at the beach consession stand than at this place.
