The Swiss Hutte is truly a European GEM in the Berkshires. Both an inn and a delicious restaurant, I can't say enough WONDERFUL things about it. Both the chef, Gert and Cindy, the proprietress, are wonderfully sweet people, who care deeply about their guests and the experience that they have. There's a reason why Robert Mondavi (of Mondavi Winery) and his wife are frequent visitors!
The food is amazing. With such European classics as Weinerschnitzel or Scallops and Shrimp L'Indienne, no detail is over looked. My personal favorite is the escargot, garlicky and tender, with fresh, homemade rolls for dipping. If snails aren't your thing, try the seasonal specialties, like the heirloom tomatoes with buffalo mozzarella or their roasted vegetable raviolis. TO DIE FOR. And the homemade tomato sauce? Heaven.
My absolute FAVORITE entree is the Beef Stroganoff with Spetzle. The Stroganoff is made with filet (holy mackerel) and the spetzle are perfect, just what you would get in Europe, with that hint of nutmeg that they should have.
To finish the dinner, you have GOT to get the creme brulee. It's their specialty and creamy, delicious and decadent.
Whenever in the Berkshires, the Swiss Hutte has GOT to be a stop on your list.
