        The Westchester County Department of Public Safety is governed by Westchester County in New York. The department has a patrol services division that investigates accidents, as well as provides traffic control services. Its aviation unit assists and supports various emergency service entities. The Westchester County Department of Public Safety s civil unit is responsible for the service and execution of orders, judgments and mandates. The department also provides crime prevention, homeland security and pistol licensing services. It has a marine unit, as well as offers surveillance, aerial photography, cargo movement and personnel insertion solutions. Established in 1979, the Westchester County Department of Public Safety maintains a police academy.
