Been there done that with the Hartford bar scene for over 10 years. Seen the ups and downs as all of them struggle to deal with the diverse crowds that are looking for somewhere to have a good time. Zula is making a stand delivering a great atmosphere and an upscale feeling while keeping my bar tab with in reason. Been there 5 times over the summer of ‘11, and everything is improving with each visit. The fact I can get something to eat late night without wandering the streets of Hartford is such a bonus, anyone that has hung out downtown knows this is a major short coming (the hotdog vendors do not count). One of the little secrets of the place is the downstairs private room and bottle service. They don’t broadcast these perks too much, so I would advise calling ahead about getting your party reserved downstairs if you are looking for that something extra. Keep in mind that bottle service will average out over your whole group, keep it in mind when deciding
Met a group of friends there at the bar. We ended up staying for dinner and overall it rocked. The music was a good level until late at night but we had been there for over 4 hours or so. The drinks were good, except for one but they took care of it right away. I like the fact that the owner came by and made sure we were all having a great time. The cheesecake rocked. I will be going there again.
Awesome! The drinks are decently priced and the DJ's know how to get a party started. Upstairs is huge but there are definitely enough people to not make it seem too big. The place is easy to get to and decent cover. Go!
